This year and next are the like the year for weddings!! I guess it could be my age group, 25 seems like a popular age to get married! Friends, cousins are all next year and prob won't be able to attend all of them. Esp if my cousin's is in CUBA!! Anyways, I booked my coloring for my hair next week as I do not want to mess it up!! Booked appointments with pastor, catering manager, coordinator at the church, photographer, this is seriously a full time job the closer it gets!!! My fiances' special order wedding band came in!! My aunt & uncle are visiting from Speedy Creek, unfortunately he has surgery tomorrow, but my mom, aunt and I decided to make the pew bows and reception bows for the wedding this evening! It was so much fun! We still have more to do tomorrow, I can't wait!! Thank goodness for my aunt who is crafty and DIY...cuz I am NOT and my mom needed a little guidance, we would have been sooooo lost without her!!

Did I mention......30 days!!!! Ahhhh!!!

Peachey- If your hair is long, maybe have it half up half down? My hair is SUPER straight too....like seriously I do not need a hair straightener! My stylist who did my trial (see pics in earlier post) used maximum hold thermal setting mist with her curling iron and it worked wonders! Its very sticky stuff, and can be messy to deal with, but it works!!! My hair held the curl VERY well. Almost 10 hours later, it didn't look "fresh" but still had lots of hold and curl!

Danu- Love the hair!!!

I like the curls! I still have yet to decide how to do my hair.... my hair is naturally curly, so it will probably be curls!

My friends asked for money for their wedding, mostly because they were moving to New Zealand like 2 weeks later and couldn't bring their gifts. They did it in a very nice way on their website, but didn't set up pay pal or anything LOL.

We don't have much of a registry, but one of our honeymoon hotels will take monetary gifts and put it towards our stay.

I think it's OK if someone explicity asks what you want, you can say money.... But it's so rude to TELL people that's what you want, and not to give anything else.... One time I got an invitation that said "envelopes only".... how rude!

Last year I went to a wedding and there was no gift table... boy was that embarrassing. The gift sat under the card holder the whole night. The bride's mom even went as far as to tell my mom my gift was inappropriate. Even tho, she knew for at least 2 months before the wedding I was buying a gift and not giving money. She could have just told my mom to forgo the gift and just give a card.

When I read your post I thought "Oh, how tacky." But after reading the article it appears it all began at the request of their friends and family. So good for them. I certainly couldn't do it. I mean, I had problems with setting up a gift registry..... also at the request of my family and friends. Now THAT felt tacky.

:o

What was inappropriate was the bride's Mom saying that to your Mom. Now THAT'S inapprorpriate.

I fully expect an inappropriate gift from her for my wedding LOL. Actually, my mom is throwing me a bridal shower but put "monetary gift preferred" on the invites, and my mom's friend asked if it was ok for her to give me a gift instead. I said "Sure! As long as it's not a slow cooker, I already have 2 of those".

I think it was posted here some where a while ago, but did you guys hear about the couple who ended up with a couple DOZEN toasters, sort of as a joke/prank because they asked for cash and had they didn't want to end up with a million toasters? LOL

Speaking of the cash thing... I don't know what to do about wedding gifts... I mean, I can't ask people for anything, and would be guilty getting anything from people, since our wedding is so small... but sometimes people hear someone's getting married and close friends/relatives want to give stuff anyways, even if they're not invited, right? I don't know how to handle that... I mean, right now we're hoping to have a renewal of vows or something like that in 2011 for everyone to go to, but by then we might change our mind... lol

(btw, I found out that my fiancé's camera, which we used for the underwater shot on the website, is the Olympyus Stylus 850 SW: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/...sp?product=1365 ) :)

Nice! Thanks Ashen. :)

As for gifts..... I think the best approach is to let key people know what would be most welcome. For instance, your mother would probably be asked that a lot by family friends and relatives, and she could say "That's very nice of you. I think Ashen would be very pleased with..... " Usually that's how I go about finding out. I will ask the parent or the best friend or whomever.

I've been told to make a registry by my future SIL as eitherwise I will get a bunch of random stuff. If you make a registry, you can let people know if they ask, but you can also tell them you don't expect to get anything. For me thats the boat I'm in, I don't expect anything, their presence at my wedding is enough, but I also don't want 50 slow cookers lol.
