Im wondering how many of the Canadian side didnt have that many show up for their wedding in the states? When we were originally thinking of doing the K1 route, I felt so awkward knowing that 95% of the wedding would be his family, and friends...

Minnew, your hair looks awesome! So nice!

Missinghim, most of my family and friends are coming to Philly which is nice.... I mean there are a few in Halifax that can't make it, but I gave 1.5 years notice, so enough time to save money, book off work, etc!! My family wouldn't miss it for the world

I can't stand people that meddle in your wedding business.... seriously, this is MY day (and hubby's of course)!! STFU or don't come if you don't like my choices  I've never meddled in anyone's else shiz, after all they've all had their own wedding and was able to do what THEY wanted on their OWN day!!

(F) I've been there JillA! I learned you have to put your foot down early! And it has to come from a united front, both you and your fiance! Once they get that you aren't going to be pushed around it gets alot better!

OMG huggles they asked you to change your date!? That is ABSURD! It's just so frustrating, I have to be more agressive and put my foot down, I don't want to be a pushover I seriously am right now

The same thing happened to me! I spent months trying to please everyone and listened to everyone demands. It was at that moment when I decided that I was a pushover and It wasn't going to happen! It felt great just telling people to mind their own business!

For this reason we decided to keep it really small. I didn't want 100 people from his family and 20 of mine, so we kept the guest list really low so it would be pretty even. I'm happy with how it turned out :)

Minniew- Love the hair! so nice!! :)

We also kept it small under 100 people, we both knew there was going to be family that could not make it, but for the most part alot of our families are coming. My fiance has a small family, long story short we had to put our foot down with my future MIL, because she wanted to invite family that my fiance had never met before, HER "close" family, her aunts uncles and cousins. If they are that close...how come Brad has never met all but one of them? They were also "courtesy" invites....well it didn't go over well, but they did NOT happen. Yes if you look at it some of the invites were courtesy, because we either knew or had a feeling they would not be able to make it, close friends of the family and even some family, but it was for people we actually KNEW, and had some part in our lives!

Our RSVP date is coming up very quickly and of the 100 people we invited, so far we only have 43 confirmed, and around 30 declined so if that helps at all. When its an OOT wedding your acceptance rate goes down, its an OOT wedding for 90 % of the guests, besides some of his friends that actually received an invite and work friends that will be asked to come once we know our numbers.

Jill & Huggles- my hair is still in knots....I am working up the courage to comb it out! lol!

I know what you mean there.

My parents are trying to pester me into having my ceremony wedding when I get down there, not on May 15th like we want it.

I wish they'd just let me have my day, seriously.

You should remind your parents that driving in the winter is NOT fun nor safe.

May 15th sounds perfectly fine to me :)

We're not having the wedding in Canada.

It's going to be in Cali. Mom thinks Canada's a boring place to have a wedding, and it's an excuse for my family to go on vacation.

I just want it to be warm cause I want an outdoor wedding.

Contrary to belief, it is actually chilly in Cali in January/February

Hey everyone! I just wanted to say hi and thank you all for all of th information, advice and personal experiences you've posted in this helpful thread! My fiance and I just recently filed our petition and now we're trying to figure out when, how and where we'll actually be able to get married! It's so daunting to think of all the decisions that will have to be made from afar but it's so encouraging to see how you all are managing! Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and keep it coming ... I love reading everyone's experiences and seeing the progression! :)

I wouldn't be surprised if they drove though. My dad's driven from Toronto to Miami at least 8 times in his life.

But, they have enough money so I think they'd be flying

I love that song! :)

We used Brad Paisley's "Then" It was prefect for us!

I've been a huge Brad fan since the day he hugged me  (hehehe!)

"Come What May" from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.

I really love the song and the lyrics, and the fact that the two main characters are singing to each other about how they love each other so much and would do anything for each other.

I love that song! Unfortunately we can't use it :( Its one of those....Do NOT play songs for us, mostly him!

I have thought about using "Then" by Brad Paisley as well, its such a beautiful song, my friend used it for her wedding last weekend. But my fiance is picky, he doesn't like country music like I do! I have also thought about using "Shes Everything" by Brad Paisley. It describes our relationship so perfectly!
