Yeah it's a fine line I guess.... I mean my Dad is contributing to the wedding in different ways, so I am inviting some of his friends and that I don't mind.... it's just my cousins that I personally dislike as people and they didn't invite me to their wedding.... I don't want to waste the postage LOL!

Agreed... ultimately the purpose is to share your wedding celebration with people that YOU want to spend it with. I really think it becomes too much about etiquette and loses the real meaning. It is tough with big families, and there are lines that once you cross into that realm of the family tree, suddenly you're looking at 10 more guests instead of 2-4... I guess it depends on how much you like or dislike them, want or don't want them there, and how much you can (or can't!) spend on feeding them.

OMG 60 DAYS!!! AHHHH!! Still so much to do!

I am going to be an utter mess during the ceremony. I keep reading over the ceremony that the pastor emailed to us and I break down crying when it comes time to read the vows. Even the scripture makes me tear up! I told my fiance about how I will be crying most likely, and he's like well sheesh if you really don't want to marry me, you don't have to...and does his whole impression of a baby crying.... (He does alot of cute impressions) I love his sarcasm somedays!:lol:

I've less than 40 for mine!! :dancing: I hope that after I arrive next week, we'll tie up those "loose strings" that we need to do, and then try to relax the last couple weeks. We've a big honeymoon coming up, so we'll need to get ready for that, as well as last minute details in the bedroom being renovated. I'll just make sure we have all the basics and then we can "pretty" it up after we settle into married life.

So does anyone have issues with the guest list? Like your family wants so and so invited that you don't? I have a few cousins that I cannot STAND and don't want them at my wedding, but my Dad really wants me to invite them to be nice.... I doubt they'd come as they live far away, but it's the principle of inviting them.

Yes we had lots of issues with the guest list, mostly on my fiance's side. Actually we still are to this day, I hate it when people assume they are getting an invitation....long story....

I think there is some resentment that some of his mom's distant family were not invited...even though he doesn''t know any of them! Its the principle of it though and I am glad he put his foot down and said no! Yes there were some courtesy invites, to people that we knew probably would not be able to travel and make it, but ppl that we actually KNEW and are a part of our lives. I understand the $$ factor as both families are contributing, but if they are going to pull that card over and over again, then whos wedding really is it?

I turned into a little bit of a ####### when It came to the guest list! I didn't want 100 members of my fiances family and 15 of mine, which is a main reason why I wanted to keep everything really small. In the end I won, and I think everyone really understood after a little while. Its hard when you are receiving financial help from the parents or the in laws, because it makes you feel like you are obligated to please them... I struggled with that a little, but in the end everyone really backed off and It worked out!

I don't have any professional pictures in yet, but here's a couple cute ones some of my family members took:

I love your cake and your dress!

I love the dress straps in particular.

And... well. I guess I'm going to have to give up on my wanted wedding date, a date that actually meant something to us.

My mom pretty much has put her foot down and told me that they have to be there for the signing of the certificate, since it's the actual marriage. I hate how traditional my parents are, and I'll probably be stuck with a February wedding, or January.

It really doesn't help that my mom told me how fat I was today and that I need to lose weight for a February wedding. "You're not going to order a wedding dress in the size you are now, are you?"

I'm only 190lbs

Oh geez, nice! That's so rude, sorry. It's your day, you should do what you want and not have anyone especially your Mum putting you down

Thanks guys! Hopefully I'll get some better ones next week. And the cake was amazing! The bottom was chocolate and the rest were vanilla. Unfortunately I only got that one bite! When I got back to my seat the wait staff already took my plate away.... jerks :P

#######!??! That's so rude!! Both on being so stubborn about your date, AND about the weight thing. I weigh more than you, and thank god my parents haven't said anything. They struggle with their weight too though, so I think realize how hard it is.

I can somewhat understand your parents wanting to be there. Have you thought about just having the civil signing ceremony with just you guys and your parents? That's what we're doing. And still having another thing later on for extended family and friends. That way your parents can be there, but you can also have your own big 'wedding' on the day that you want it, in May. :)

Oh... and Huggles... OMG!!! *squee* Your wedding looks like it was in a beautiful location! I know you posted about it before, but even just this little hint of pics is great! And I love your cake, and the topper. :)

Thanks, everyone. That makes me feel a bit better at least.

And I've told my mom, she can come for the signing if she wants, but I still want the ceremony in May.

She keeps insisting that the actual wedding ceremony be with the signing of the certificate.

Ugh, I guess I'll see how that happens.

And my mom's trying to lose weight herself, so I guess she's pushing me to do it too.

She's been pushing me to lose weight for years.

"You should only be eating foods that come straight from the ground or have mothers." is what she said today. Oi.
