When's a good time to start sending save the dates? I'm not sure how far in advance to send them. I kind of want to before I leave Canada, cause then it will be cheaper postage... LOL

When's a good time to start sending save the dates? I'm not sure how far in advance to send them. I kind of want to before I leave Canada, cause then it will be cheaper postage... LOL

I have heard 6 months before the wedding is usually the time to send them. If its a "destination wedding" for alot of people to come and book travel I read 8 months in advance. My postage for wedding invites came to $36!!!! It was about half Canadian half American stamps bought and of course the American stamps are 0.98 cents. I am hoping we get at least 50 people out of those invites, its a very small wedding. I sent out Save the Date emails via theknot.com at about the 5 month mark, sent out emails to family members at about the 8 month mark letting them know of the "tentative" wedding date that we had booked with the church and reception venue and I would send them a "Save the Date" once I had the Visa in my hand. Since over 90% of my guest list is OOT I sent out wedding invitations at about the 4 month mark. I have an idea of who is going to come and who is not based on emails or conversations with other family members, but we will see, I don't think their situation is going to change in 4 months.

I would only put our photo on ours if we had our engagement photos from our professional photographer done - but we probably won't yet.

Ashen - My wedding book says to send out Save-the-Dates 7-9 months in advance. I'll probably do it around the 8 month mark.

Well I'm sending ours out a full year before - firstly because it's over a holiday weekend (labour day) and alot of people around here go to the Shore for that weekend. Also since so many guests are coming from Canada, I want to give PLENTY of notice. I figure, we have the date, everythings booked, may as well tell everyone. The sooner the better

We're coming back to Canada for a later reception, mostly because I know 90% of the people we'd want to come can't afford to fly out there for our actual wedding... :lol: I think I might just do emails as well just after I move, then can include some wedding photos... oooo that's a good idea. It'd be about the 5-6 month mark.

We don't have a venue yet... *sigh* It's hard figuring out how to do an outdoor reception with a dance area on a tiiiiny budget.

HAHAHA OMG... so my fiance went for a walk on the beach this afternoon, and what does he see? A wedding!!! Seriously! I asked him if he chatted with them at all to get some good info for us, but he said no. I was disappointed. We could've had some great tips, right from the source!! He said they walked by just as the bride said 'I do'... I told him that was rude :P hahaha

That happened to Tim on July 4th!! He was at Myrtle beach, on the pier, and said there was a wedding on the beach! I think he said he took pic's or possible video, but I haven't seen them yet...:lol:

I would really like mine to be half up and half down curly, (I hate the way I look in an updo) but my hair is long and so stick straight I don't know if it will hold the curl for more than 1 hour. Whoever does my hair will need some seriously holding product. Seriously I have no need for a straightening iron, it straightens by itself!

Nice styles!! My hair is very long...(almost to my knees) and very thick..I'm really not sure what to do. I'll probably go with something half up/half down. Tim loves my hair down, so I'm hoping to have ringlets down the middle of my back, and everything else up somewhat...

I usually give hairdressers nightmares... :wacko:

We had an AMAZING, AMAZING day! The reception was perfect!!! I will post some pics after we get some. :P I was busy playing "bride" and didn't get many (if any) pics with my camera. But, I did change my avatar, so you can at least see me! :) I'll share a link for photos asap.

On a VJ note, I was able to meet CDAgirlMI at the wedding! It was great to have you hang out with us for the day! :) THANK YOU!!!!! ;)
