Such a pretty dress! Definitely along the same lines of the style I was looking at too! I am against strapless for myself and I don't want a "traditional" dress at all

Sapphire, no I haven't yet tried on any dresses. I want to avoid buying from a bridal shop, only because I don't want to spend a lot of money and I know that it would be impossible there  And also because trying on clothes isn't that fun for me, unfortunately...

But I do think that I will go to some other shops that have dresses similar to the style I might want, just to get a better idea. I do think this style will work on me though, due to it's ability to hide certain areas... !!

You'd be surprised at how helpful the bridal shops are and at how inexpensive it can be - they can show you bridesmaid dresses that come in white which are often a less expensive option! The place I went to was very very helpful. I also don't like trying on clothes these days, but they left me alone and only came around when I needed them.

I'm not really that skinny but I was shocked at how flattering all the dresses where on me!! I swear 75% of the dresses I tried on were so flattering. They are all very thick fabric and a lot have built in corsets...it was amazing!

HAHAHA OMG... so my fiance went for a walk on the beach this afternoon, and what does he see? A wedding!!! Seriously! I asked him if he chatted with them at all to get some good info for us, but he said no. I was disappointed. We could've had some great tips, right from the source!! He said they walked by just as the bride said 'I do'... I told him that was rude :P hahaha

Do you think they'd be willing to work with me if I walked in and said I wanted to spend no more than X # of $s? I've just looked online so far, and have tried the bridesmaid dress trick ;) It works pretty well... haha Maybe I could do that... just say that I'm going for a bridesmaid dress in white and/or ivory... oohhh that's sneaky. Then they'd understand the lower budget and not feel like i'm ripping them off... lol... :thumb:

They definitely work within budgets! Just tell them what you want to spend, tell them you were thinking that perhaps a white bridesmaid dress would work and they will definitely help you!! That's what they do. Business is business, whether its a $20 veil or a $2000 dress, they will treat you equally!

I have to agree with Sapphire about the dress thing. I had a plan about what kind of dress I wanted and came out with something completely different! I shopped around and went to a couple different places before I really committed. In the end, I paid less for the dress then I expected to. Watch for sales! If you want something simple and cost effective, watch out for David Bridal's $99 gown sales, sometimes they have some very nice, yet simple, dresses up for a really good bargain.

With that said, I really like that dress you picked out! I think it would be gorgeous and perfect for a beach wedding :)

I'm pretty excited that today I finally booked my hair and makeup! And, my trial is on Friday already! I don't even know what I want to do... I'm thinking either completely up, or half up half down... any suggestions? My fiance wants it down or half down, as does my MOH, but my mother, MIL and other bridesmaids think I should put it up. Its going to be outdoors and I have long thick, dark wavy hair...

That's awesome!! I don't know what to do with my hair either... I'm thinking half up, I wore it that way at my sister's wedding and loved it. I just normally wear it down so I want to look normal like myself. Maybe at the trial you could try a few different styles!

If its going to be outdoors then I would go with half up half down, but have it so your hair is swept off of your face and pinned back so that it won't blow around in your face at least, especially if you have bangs, or long bangs in the front if its windy outdoors on the day of your wedding.

I would really like mine to be half up and half down curly, (I hate the way I look in an updo) but my hair is long and so stick straight I don't know if it will hold the curl for more than 1 hour. Whoever does my hair will need some seriously holding product. Seriously I have no need for a straightening iron, it straightens by itself!

I'm going to blame this on brain damage but the first thing that popped into my head when I read the above is "OMG. She's going to court??!!" :o

Those hairstyles are lovely. My hair is stick-straight, too, Minnew, so I know where you're coming from. My daughter is having her hair pulled back into the nape of her neck a la Spanish style. The dress kind of dictates that. So that's how I would approach it, Huggles. Which style is going to complement the dress best?

Three more sleeps, July!!!!!

Where is that list, anyway?

I like that first one Minnie! I'll add it to the possibilities collection...

I was thinking something like this for half up: weddinghair6.jpg

But this may get in my way... I have hair quite similar to that, so I thought that would work well.

Or something like this for all up: weddinghair4.jpg

I never wear my hair up but when I do everyone always tells me how good I look... So I'm not really sure. Hopefully the lady at the trial is patient with me! Fortunately, I can really do anything with my hair. It can be straightened pretty easy, and it holds curl great, soo at least I have options.

I really want to show you guys my dress but I just know my fiance will come on here and see it and he's not allowed! Maybe I should bring the hair lady a picture...

So I'm ordering our save the date cards.... so excited! They're really pretty, a light green color with a willow tree on the front.... our initials J+G engraved in the tree.... then it says "Save the Date for Jill and Glen's Wedding! September 4, 2010 in Philadelphia, PA"

I changed the wording from "Jill and Glen are getting married" because, well we already are so I didn't like how that sounded

I found so many nice ones on this website:
