Have you all discussed wedding albums in this thread? I was going to start a thread asking about that. And yes, we had our family wedding over eight months ago and I am just now getting around to it. We did not hire a professional photographer and I'm kind of vascilating between doing a photo album through webshots or one where I physically place the prints in the album myself. I was curious what others have done.

I am not even close to that point as we have not had the wedding yet, but I am considering having my photographer make an album, or you can make your own for cheaper with Shutterfly. http://www.shutterfly.com/shop/custom-wedd.../product_c18120. Maybe thats what I will do with 3 months of unemployment, will need to fill some time..hahaha!

I'm not having a professional photog either... saving myself a few grand and having my uncle do it, free of charge! LOL he took the pics at my sister's wedding and did a fab job... I really don't like those staged cheesy photos that professional photogs do, it's not me.... so I'll be happy with his simple photos!

We're getting a coffee table book from our photographer. She designs the book to tell a story I guess you could say. She does an amazing job, edits all the photos and really puts a lot of effort into them.

We're not doing those disposable cameras, but we are doing a photobooth. It's not one of those standing ones, but a white backdrop that everyone will take a photo against as they walk in. It's meant to be a nice photo that everyone can then view online and purchase if they like it. She can do serious ones, she also does a lot of fun, laughing ones. If you go to Page 4 here: http://www.claudiahungweddings.com/ - you can see what I mean. We are paying extra for the photobooth but I know I won't be disappointed.

I'm lucky enough to have a cousin with a decent photography business... she just started a year ago, but is pretty good, and by the time our wedding rolls around she'll have another year of experience... so we're saving tons of money that way, and will still end up with great photos! :) I also have an aunt who used to do cakes, so I think i'll ask her to do ours! Yay for connections! lol

http://www.openshutterphotography.com is my cousin's business, if anyone wants to look. If you're in the Southwestern Ontario region, look her up! lol

Our budget is going to be very small, so we're saving money wherever possible, while still allowing ourselves some splurges on things that will matter in the long run.

I really like the idea of the photo booth that's not really a photo booth. :) I'm hoping with the disposables, when I ask them to take a group shot of the table that I can get some wacky stuff like that... Knowing our family and friends, I think it's a guarantee.

I don't know if we're going to do an album... I like the idea of a book... there are some websites online that allow you to put books together like those that were mentioned, so I think I might end up doing that myself, and perhaps taking the top 10-20 photos, printing them off and putting them together in a collage to hang on our wall or something.

I liked her pics, Ashen. They made me smile. Looking forward to seeing what she does with yours!

Agreed! She definitely has talent. Some of her pictures remind me of my sisters style (my wedding photographer- yay for connections indeed!)

As far as photo albums go, I really have no idea... something to worry about later. Like Minnie said, 3 months of unemployment means I'll have all the time in the world to put stuff together!

Right now I'm struggling with a hair and makeup venue. I'll find one I like and it will be 2 hours away with crazy travel fees, or someone close with insane costs, or someone with decent costs but stupid packages they won't budge from... none of my bridesmaids want to have professional makeup, which is totally fine with me, but some places won't do one without the other. Its so annoying! I found a place I thought I liked and the lady ended up being a b*tch, so no thanks! I'm not working with someone like that.

I'm a scrapbooker so that may answer the question :) . We did not have a professional photographer either - sadly we didn't get as many shots as we'd hoped that were really 'good'

We had small digital cameras for the kids to rove around with but they just goofed around mostly so their pictures were junkola.

I would have planned better for the photo session right after the ceremony had I known how few really good shots we'd get - invariably 3 of the 4 people would be looking at 1 camera and then teh 4th person would be looking at an entirely different one :(

Well, PopRocks has 7 days until her wedding and we're at 17 days. OMG!!! Things (and days) are going by SO fast! We picked out our rings yesterday and ordered them. My friend is a jeweler and he will engrave "July 17, 2009" on the inside for us. We're the simple kind and don't really have a phrase or anything we typically say or even pet names for each other. So, we decided, that we would continue a tradition his mother's mother did, and have the date engraved on the inside.

I can't wait!

my hubby had his ring engraved with "Marilyn"... his own decision :)

my band was too small to have anything engraved on it..

Same here! It would be cute to have it engraved but my band is really thin.

Today I just sent off the invitations in the mail! It felt soooo good to finally have them out! Alot of people say it is early to send them out because the wedding is not until October, but given the situation and alot of OOT guests I figure either they will know or they won't. Gives them time to book travel arrangments 99 days until the wedding!! About 75 days until I move  Holy ####### thats gonna come quick!! They all received Save the Date emails via theknot 3 weeks ago!

The bridesmaid dresses came in as well! Just got the email from Davids Bridal! :D My bridesmaid who lives in the US is going to be so kind as to courier my sisters dress, bolero jacket and the slippers I ordered! I will definitely have to pay her back!

My fiances mother is currently visiting Omaha and it sounds like they found a nice restaurant to have the rehearsal dinner, they would not tell me anything about it, except you and your family will like it, and its a suprise!! Honestly a little bit hurt that they wanted to keep a secret until she does her rehearsal dinner invites. I just hope its in close proximity to hotels, esp the one with the room block and not 20 miles away! They also went tux shopping and found tuxes for him and his 2 groomsmen from Men's Wearhouse. He picked out a tux with red bowtie/vest and the groomsmen black. Its going to be interesting to see how the situation pans out as they are going to have to get theirs at Mens Wearhouse in GA. I need to him to send me the color swatch for his red tie, as I need to order flowers next month, as well as the silk petals for table confetti. He said the color was apple and it was a bit darker...so we will see! It can be so hard to match reds sometimes! The apple color on the website prob looks different than in person! Anyone have any advice for matching reds?

Oh ####### that reminds me I need to order his wedding band!!

Woot GST cheque today and payday!! :))
