Honestly, I think a lot of wedding dresses look better on curvy girls! They are just so flattering. I was amazed when I tried on dresses. I'm definitely somewhat curvy and the best ones were all of the very fitted ones. I was so happy!

Did you get your dress yet? Oh I think you said you have, but can't post the pic in case your fiancee sees it :crying:

I haven't started the dress hunt yet.... I'll start at David's Bridal.

Oh. Speaking of "The List".... can I add my daughter? Her wedding is August 21, 2010. :)

Yay! Close to mine and Sapphires! Is it going to be in the Toronto-area?

OMG! Monday! OMG!

Ok, that's out of my system.

I met with the caterer today and it turns out that a good friend of hers is vegan. She'll be making him some marinated, grilled veggie sandwiches and has added a few pastries that have no eggs or milk. Now I can take making food for Phil's brother off my Sunday "To Do" list.

I also worked out what I'm going to do to honour my mom's memory at my ceremony. I'll be wearing her ruby and yellow gold necklace. It'll look great with the red roses I'll be carrying.

The hair and make-up trilas were yesterday. It was awesome. My stylist and my florist ended up in a huddle in the corner making plans.

Now I've got to go back to playing phone tag with our celebrant. We need to discuss the ceremony since we've decided to deviate from the cookie-cutter Anglican ones.

We're having a grand total of 18 people including Phil and I but it still seems like there's lots to do.

Wish us luck,

Catherine

Wow, so soon! Good luck, I'm sure it will go great! That's a nice idea about the necklace, so sweet.

^ I found a dress I really liked here, but I've decided to hold off on my search until December. I want to wait until the Fall 2010 styles are out... and want to lose like 10 more pounds, LOL and that's not happening with all my going away dinners and parties, haha.

I'm also tempted to check out David's Bridal. It's so much cheaper, but after trying on some really nice silk (not tafetta) dresses, I think I am sold on something pricier. Even though I know it's just one day yada yada yada... I am in love the structure and make of some of the dresses I tried on. They were very well made and SO flattering. I always thought I would just get a cheap dress, but now I'm not so sure!

I'm going to check it out for sure when I move and I'll report back. I'm really interested in getting bridesmaid dresses there.

I got both my dress and my bridesmaid dresses at DB. The bridesmaid dresses are on order right now and should come in by August. We are also getting bolero jackets to match. If you get your dress at DB they will take 20%..or was it 10? percent off the purchase of bridesmaid dresses. Heres what the bridesmaid dresses will look like but in black:

Well lets see my wedding details are pretty well iorned out. It's been giving me something to do while all this process has been going on.

I have the church, priest and reception site booked. I have purchased and hanging in my closet is my wedding dress, veil, headpiece, corset bra...tee hee...and my maid of honors dress.

I have picked out the invitations (but have not ordered yet because I am waiting on the reception food selection which I am picking out this weekend) I have all the flowers for bridal party and reception picked out.

This weekend my fiance and his mother are coming into town (I told him to bring all his visa papers so he doesn't have a problem getting in to the states, I have been the one mostly visiting him cause i am afraid he wont be able to get "in the door") Anyways hopefully since his mother will be with him and what not and she can say she is here to help plan the wedding he will be alright. So this weekends plan is cake tasting at 2 bakeries, food tasting at the reception place, tux fitting and what not, going to pick out the wedding rings and wedding registry.

After this all I need to do is set the invitations to order with the correct food on the reception cards. Get the limo and DJ and I am done.

I have to say planning this wedding while awaiting for this immigration process has been the best thing LOL.:thumbs:

I'm glad I am NOT planning a wedding the same time as this. I have enough going on. lol Though it sounds like you're the USC? I don't know if that makes it easier, cause it seems once the petition is sent off most of the rest of the work is done by the beneficiary. So yes, I guess you needed something to do... haha

Congrats on getting a lot of the big planning out of the way though! Sounds like you're making good progress :)

Yes!.... right in Toronto. The wedding is at St James Cathedral and the reception is at The Rosewater Room above The Rosewater Supper Club..... which is just around the corner from the church. I told the groom that he's in deep doo-doo if he backs out now.

Yes I am the USC, though I have been his secretary filing out all the forms for Montreal so all he needed to do was sign the papers :) But I am just used to doing 100 things at once, plus honeslty the wedding planning keeps me from becoming a crazy person keeps me occupied. LOL

Ugh I hear ya! I'm trying to trim off a few pounds before the big day and everyone wants to buy me lunch or dinner to say farewell. It seems like 2-3 times a week i'm eating out and that's not working out very well! But, I was thinking the same thing when I started the dress search. I wanted to avoid David's Bridal because I had this idea in my mind that it was cheap or like my one friend calls it, "the wall-mart for wedding dresses." I went to a more expensive shop and tried on a bunch of dresses. I was ready to buy one but something told me to wait... and then my soon to be MIL suggested I try David's Bridal just to see. So I went and I found a dress I loved! I knew it was perfect when I first put it on and I saved a lot of money, even though there is nothing like silk! I totally agree with that. I say its worth just checking it out... I was really surprised by the quality of dresses they have for the reasonable prices. If its not for you then at least you can say you tried to save money?

I have to say planning this wedding while awaiting for this immigration process has been the best thing LOL.:thumbs:

You know what? I agree. It was a little stressful at times trying to balance visa, wedding, school and work but I'm really glad I had the wedding details to keep my mind occupied on other things or I may have gone completely crazy! And it gave me something to look forward to... Whenever the paperwork and the waiting started to bother me I pictured my lovely wedding at the end of the rainbow. It also helped looking down at my left hand at the ring...

I think one of my main concerns with doing all of them at once is the cost.. :( I don't even know how we're going to pay for immigration as it is without asking for help, and I really hate that.

Anyways... Since a lot of you are doing weddings in Toronto, I'm guessing you're doing the little legal thing in the US prior to that. What's everyone got planned for those? Just the two of you? Very low key?

Me too, the cost was the main issue as to not having the wedding right away. I refuse to put anything on credit for my wedding, it's cash or nothing. If I can't afford it, I'm not buying it. Along with the immigration costs, we had to pay for the moving costs, plus me not working for awhile! So with the wedding being over a year away, plenty of time to save.

Our legal ceremony was low-key, at a JOP's home.... just us 2, and we went to the Cheesecake Factory after to celebrate

I would LOVE to do that...nice low key...just pay for license. Tim's brother is the Pastor of his Church..lol..so we won't need to pay for that..

Tim's never been married, so I won't take this away from him. It's going to be a big wedding...almost 300. ( Really hope they can't all make it..lol) Although, once the petition was approved, we knew when we could set the date, and he's been telling! His friends and family want to celebrate so much with him. I did mention a low key, and plan for something big later...um..nope. That's not how it's going to work...lol. So planning a big wedding from far away is a job and a half, but I think we'll be ready!

We're going to city hall in NYC and we actually need to have at least 1 witness by law, so we couldn't even do it alone if we wanted to... although i guess we could ask someone random. But, as of right now his parents, sister (she's 17), his Godmother and one of my BFFs/bridesmaid who works in NYC on occasion and will be in the city that day is going to come. Oh and one of his ushers wants to come... so there will be 8 of us. And then we'll all go out and have a nice dinner or lunch or something. I'm going to wear a really cute white sundress I have from Jacob that I never wore (it's like I saved it on purpose) and get a pink flower bouquet (sidenote: I really like pink flowers, but decided to go with yellow for my re-wedding, so I am really excited to have two weddings, so that i can have both flowers). I'm a bit sad my Mom won't be there, but I figure it will help make our re-wedding that much more special for her. Oh and I plan to wear my hair wavy and down for this one...

I'm really enjoying the fact that I get to have two weddings. I am a really indecisive person and I love the idea of both a small and big wedding - small being casual and big being more formal - and I get to have both!!! I mean how many people get to do that?? I don't even have to decide.
