I fell in love with my dress through the website like almost a year before we started the process.

I didn't look at anything else, because I had my heart set on it.

OMG I totally relate! I dont want to fall in love with something then buy it then fall in love AGAIN with another dress. I think they say start 8 months prior to your date, so thats at least half a year from now!!!

Well if I bought it I would stop looking so that didn't happen. My concern is falling in love with something and then when I can actually buy it, it not being available anymore.

Btw Handwritten cards are not taboo, they are actually the more proper form as they show you cared enough to write it, as opposed to just printing out the same message (even if its different, they dont know that) to everyone and just editing the names on the computer.

I'm currently in love (online) with 3 dresses. I really want to try them on.

The first and last one I love because I loooooove organza and I tried on a dress similar to them and it looked so pretty on me. I love the side drape on the 2nd one and how the thing goes around the hip, I think it would help to make me look a bit slimmer.

I love the middle one!

I loved mine because it didn't have any gathered fabric or fabric pulled anywhere else, just tight till the waist then straight down.

This is the dress I am currently in love with! Its super simple but I love the softness of the dress and the back part. I have fallen in love with other dresses before but this is my current love right now!

I feel like I'm the only person who never looked at David's Bridal for their dress... because I never did

Hmm, I like it darkchilde. I would never use straps myself, but it really suits it!

It's very pretty.

Anyone know how how a courtroom justice of the peace wedding is? all arrangements etc for my wedding are now off. we're just getting married at at the courthouse. i wasn't expecting a big todo or completely normal wedding originally but..since its the first time i'm getting married..i kinda wanted it to be somewhat special..turns out..i cant get what i want. even if i plan a real wedding for next year, i dont see how it will really be all that special.

The place we did ours had a seperate "chapel" room, which was a room with no seating, but had an "alter" that he stood behind. Tacky flowers in the corner  You can still make it special if you have it next year hon! I'm doing mine next year, and I'm sure it will be beautiful and what I want it to be.

At first, I was kind of ticked off with having to plan a wedding so fast, but now that I've done it... I'm glad I did.

I pretty much had nothing in mind as to what I wanted my wedding to be like, so what I had was great.

My whole family loved it and I'm glad I don't have to plan another ceremony.

Strange enough, my brother whom I don't talk to much asked for a wedding picture. He was going to come, but he would have been about 5 months shy of the drinking age... and he didn't want to come if he couldn't drink and gamble. My mom even seemed blown away that he wanted a picture, when my husband first met my family my brother kept saying, "He only wants you for sex, etc."

I think his perspective's changed

well i had planned a bunch of diff things..but everyone keeps not agreeing..and i have no family that will come or wants to come. i just can't take the stress anymore. i have had 2 breakdowns and when i ask david for help he says i never tell him anything and lately i just keep repeating myself..so i've given up on an actual family ceremony. as it is now..it looks like i wont even be able to do aos right away due to financial issues which i thought 2 months ago would be fine. turns out our financial situation is worse than i knew...

I am going for my menu tasting today! We are thinking of serving Italian for our wedding, as it is the one cuisine the hubby and I agree on. Im also thinking of serving roasted pork on a spit to touch on my Filipino heritage as well. I am so excited!

Man, during my aunts wedding (I'm filipino too) she somehow decided to get a giant roasted pig, head and EVERYTHING. I didn't know whether to stare at it or cry. Now I say hindi ako gutom (is that right?) all the time. D:

Is it taboo to write thank you cards by hand? I wrote all my thank you cards (all 50+ of them!) by hand after my civil ceremony. I did write a personal message to each guest and so forth...

NOT taboo at all, I would think that it is expected that a handwritten note will be given for each thank you, not some type written "form thank you note" as if it wasn't even you who wrote it. I was astonished when I saw these "form thank notes" in stationary magazines. How tacky!

Sorry to hear all your trouble. As if the interview that is coming up for you and moving won't be trouble enough. I think that a civil ceremony can be beautiful. My cousin wore a special white dress and her fiance' wore a tux. The courtroom actually let up to 20 people in to watch the ceremony and we sat in the jury boxes in the courtroom. Then the next night there was a reception for all the non-family members to come to as well. I hope things will straighten themselves out for you to at least move forward with a wedding and then when the finances allow it Adjustment of Status.
