Me thinks I finally figure out what I'm getting for my wedding party.

Minus the ring bearer, we're still trying to figure that out.

Instead of doing a big gift, I'm buying a bunch of little things (a few vegas oriented) and making like a gift box for them. Things like candy, keychains, more coasters, etc. I think it'll be cute. There's one semi expensive gift in it and then a bunch of little things.

Oh, i'm not the type that worries about my wedding day being perfect at all, and I don't think I've had a 'dream' in my head about it, other than knowing I don't want it in church cause I've been to far too many church weddings.... lol But yeah, I was a bit down about not even getting basic things. You're right though Sapphire, that flowers wilt, and the beach isn't going anywhere. lol And Arabella, you're totally right about the parents. :)

Thanks everyone, I will get over it. And Carla, as I mentioned in our PMs, thanks again for the offer. *hugs*

Good news today though... well... and bad news, but oh well. Bad news is that it's supposed to rain here ALL next week. I mean Mon-Fri. lol I know there was a bit of a rain discussion earlier, and it's good luck and all, but basically since we have to find a new location anyways, we'll be a bit more particular about where we choose to go now. I'm sure there's a nice sheltered area in a park somewhere. I dunno... Sigh. I think we'll find something though. Hopefully tomorrow we'll have a chance to tour around and look.

Good news is that my future father in law's secretary has offered to make us a cake... for free! OMFG! Apparently Dan knew this, but NEVER mentioned it to me! His mom told me just now though, thankfully. Literally I found out as I was typing this post... LOL So that's awesome. She only needs 2-3 days notice, so I'm going to get a list of what kinds of cakes she does tonight, and hopefully can pick from there. :D

I also discovered that I could get a dozen roses at the local grocery store here for $4.99. lol And found a really cute idea online of flowers with pine in them.

HW0_227601.jpg

I live surrouuuunded by pines, and have extremely easy access to go and cut some.... LOL So I might make something similar to that pic.

^^ And just as a tip, I made my own bouquet for my civil wedding and I looked up How-to videos on Youtube.com on how to make the bouquet and it turned out pretty nice.

You might want to add in a Hydrangea or two to fill up any empty space. And, get yourself some wide ribbon and floral tape at Michael's - it's nto that expensive really. It's super easy to diy!

I really wanted a bouquet of hydrangeas for my wedding, but since the package comes with roses, I'm sticking with that.

I think hydrangeas are my favourite flowers.

I was going to do that bouquet that looks like ball and it hangs on ribbon. I thought it would have been cute.

Ashen that flower idea looks lovely!

If I lived in Cali, I'd offer to do your flowers and/or cake (but you've already got that covered) for you. Heck, I'd be your photographer :) Too bad I live on the other side of the country :(.

Sapphire that is a beautiful picture!

Ashen: also, I dont know if it translates in the west coast, but tulips are also in season this time of the year. You can buy them 2-3 days ahead before they fully bloom. They are beautiful and very elegant.

Also, its good luck to rain in your wedding. It rained on mine and Im still happily married ;)

Finally married... and still married... ;)

I wanted hydrangeas but they weren't in season in March .. so I ended up with a bouquet of blue and white roses.. it was very pretty.. my matron of honour and my flower girl both had bouquets of white tulips...

I made the favours myself.. I bought a bag of Hersheys kisses and placed some on a plastic spoon and wrapped it in tulle and ribbon.. and put a little note on it that said something like "a spoonful of kisses from the new Mr and Mrs"

Ashen:

Sorry to hear your situation, but it will work out(I know you know that).

I'm trying to plan a wedding that makes everyone happy & sometimes I get caught up in the "wedding day". But the thing we need to really focus on is Marriage. All of us here did things the hard way to be with the one we love & no matter what happens with the wedding, its the marriage that counts.

Your day will work out. Enjoy your parents there. I don't know how ofen you'll see them, so having them be there will be wonderful.

Like Peachy said, if I lived near you, I'd totally do your photos, lol.

aww, I missed Peachey's post the first time around. Thanks :) *hugs* And *hugs* to you CDAgirlMI... and everyone else. I'm feeling a little better now. Thanks for the tip re: the tulips darkchilde. I'll see if I can find some. I'd prefer them over roses... I just happen to have a coupon.. LOL

Back 'home' in Canada, I had people I knew who could do cake, flowers, photos, hair/makeup... all that good stuff... but no one here. Sigh. Er... well.. excluding the cake I guess. Though yes, it's getting worked out bit by bit.

Thanks everyone, for your help and kind words. :)

Sapphire has asked me to remove her picture so I have done so and returned her post here:

No problem! The YouTube Video was a lifesaver because there is a certain technique to how to place the flowers. It's really easy once you watch the video!

I also used some tulle and wrapped it around the stems (because I forgot to buy ribbon an my MIL had some lying around.)

This is the bouquet (i hoep this photo works):

I used 1 Hydrangea, 3 peonies, 4 roses and then the leaves from the roses. I was very happy with it!

Ashen, those tulips are lovely, and so is your dress. I'm so glad things seem to be working out for you. And I just wanted to say that I think the support everyone is showing in this thread is amazing. I'm so proud to be a Canadian. :luv:
