Okay... here are the invites... I hope this time it works and they aren't HUGE!

For some reason, the sized didn't turn out right when I went to shrink the file size... but at least you'll have an idea.

I'm struggling! Who thought tying bows was so difficult? After painstaking hours of trying to figure out how to tie it I came up with this. Be honest now... If it looks deformed tell me

2009-06-06028.jpg

And that's with all the goods minus envelopes! I printed the inner and outter ones envelopes myself and they turned out pretty good :)

The only thing I would suggest if you are sold on the bow is to cut the ends with 2 points, like cut a triangle in the ribbon, know what i mean? Just finished it off nicely.

Or, have you thought about just running the ribbon flat around the card and just gluing it together inconspicuously? I think that would look nice too.

July Bridde - I love your invites, I am so impressed with the style you are doing on your own. So inspiring.

I am thinking that I really would like Letterpress invites if I can find some that aren't too much money. I just want a simple cream cardstock with yellow indented text and a navy blue envelope. I'm banking on finding something on etsy.com.

My mom suggested doing that too, cutting the ends of the bow into points... So I think I'll do that. The bows are suposed to go along the front horizontally but I liked the vertical look better. The other way the bow seemed to consume the entire invite and you missed out on all the pretty embossing on the front. Its just so hard to make them perfect and I'm pretty OCD sometimes, so I'm trying to think of a way to do it so they all look perfect. I just love bows... It looked so much easier on the website

I got them from Theamericanwedding.com

http://www.theamericanwedding.com/shopping...in.asp-pid-7163

I got those because I liked the white. But I like the ribbon placement on these ones better:

http://www.theamericanwedding.com/shopping...in.asp-pid-7148

But that's not even a bow is it? Maybe I should try doing it like that... I'm just picturing myself tying 50 bows and I already want to scream

July- Nice invites! Creative!

My husband did the invites and he couldn't get the bows right so he actually took all the invitations to work and had his team try to make pretty bows. Turned out one of his buddies was REALLY good at it, so he finished them all up for Don :)

 This is funny!

We decided to go with option #2, it was just so much easier. I did a couple tonight and I'm quite happy with how they are turning out!

Anyone pick out their cakes yet? I love cake! I'm pretty excited about ours :luv:

I made my cake.. banana with chocolate frosting... even decorated it myself.. it was far from professional looking but it tasted great...

cake2a.jpg

we didn't have a fancy reception anyways.. we just had it at our parents house.. my parents paid about 300 bucks for a person to come and cater it.. the person did all the set up, cooking and all the clean up.. which was nice.. it was all just simple stuff, like appetizers mainly, mini meatballs, hot spinach dip, brushetta etc.. it was all yummy though.....

I know my mom if they wouldn't have hired the caterer she would have been in the kitchen the whole time... :P

I even decorated a little.. I made butterflies out of coffee filters that I had dyed blue and hung them from the ceiling with fishing line so they kind of looked like they were flying.. it might sound kind of tacky but it actually turned out really cute..

I even made my own favours.. I bought plastic spoons and a bag Hershey's kisses and then put a couple on the spoon wrapped it in this gauzy material stuff and then attached a little note that said something like " A Spoonful of kisses from the new Mr and Mrs"

Yep! We're doing 3 or 4 tiers... square... white crunchy buttercream (YUMMY!!!!!) frosting... with a black ribbon around the bottom of each tier... with a strand of sparkles around the outside of the ribbon... with the Swedish dots (three dots together) -- maybe... with 2" spacers between each tier... each tier set off at a different angle from the one above... small bouquet of flowers (dark pink roses & dark pink gerberas) with a sparkle H set into the flowers on the top!

Told'ja I was completely exploiting the H thing! :)

Flavors... strawberry/vanilla swirl, chocolate/vanilla swirl... cherry chip... Yum!

Yumm!! We have three tiers, the bottom one is square and the top two are round, covered in buttercream frosting (its much yummier than the fondant). The bottom tier is the largest and will be chocolate with chocolate mousse Bavarian cream, and the two on top will be vanilla with vanilla mousse Bavarian cream. I wanted vanilla, he wanted chocolate, we came to that compromise! We are going to have ribbon running along the bottom of each layer too! Red silk ribbon, and then the designs on it will be in aqua blue. The bottom is some kind of squiggly line thing, the middle is swirls and the top is dots. We got a bride and groom cake topper too, it was a piece of tradition we didn't want to forgo. Its pretty contemporary and neat looking! That's the plan at the moment, we'll see if I change my mind... I'm not sure if I want any flowers or anything on it yet...

Your cake is cute Marilyn! I love how so much of your wedding was simple DIY projects. The Hershey's kisses thing is great!!

July - Did you find a cake topper? I left a msg in another thread but I am not sure you saw it :P Here is where I got mine: www.topperswithglitz.com. The lady that does them is amazing! She rushed my order, and it looked great. I still have the topper now, and am going to shadowbox it and put it up in our bedroom :) Love it!!

I didn't LOVE my wedding cake. My husband's friend from high school had her own bakery, and she was somewhat new to it, and I had no idea who else to do it since I didn't know the area. I gave her a picture, and said I kinda wanted it like that, yadda yadda. The color was WAY off, and the beads didn't look right. Although I knew it was going to be fondant, I really hate the taste of it. It tastes horrible. Ah well. Here is my cake:

BTW - The pics don't do the topper justice. It TOTALLY sparkled!!!

Other ideas: (since i am posting photos haha)

Rather than a Guestbook, we had a tree/plant kind of thing. The florist (who was AMAZING) put roses in it to dress it up. I stamped the cards myself and there were instructions left in a silver frame to write something nice for bride and groom. Then, they hung it on the tree. We have kept all the wishes and put it in our unity candle vase :)

Also, in this pic, rather than using a typical wedding box thingy for the cards, we got something more OLD looking and bought an old trunk I guess. And of course, I still have it, in the living room!!!

Instead of buying expensive glasses for bride and groom. We went to an EL cheapo store, bought glasses for $4 and had the florist tie a rose on it. We did this for the cake server set too but I don't seem to have a pic of it.

We did a candle ceremony. I didn't love the balls in the bottom, but when I got to the venue and saw them, I so was so nervous that was the least of my worries!!! Hindsight, i wish I took them out.

Oops I have no more room!!! :P
