So we emailed our caterer today asking him a question. And his response? He's closing up his business as of Dec 31, 2009. So now, we need to get ourselves a new caterer. Our wedding is 5 months away :crying:

He did say he would return our deposit, I told Varba to go and pick it up himself.

That is just terrible. I can't believe he didn't even bother to tell you about this!

That is awful! Thank goodness he is returning your deposit; I've heard some horror stories about companies going out of business and people not getting deposits/money back for stuff they've paid for in advance ...

Here's hoping you guys are able to get new one soon!

I found the invites my parents bought!

http://www.michaels.com/art/online/display...oductNum=wd0216

They're very nice and they got them really cheap.

Mine are the same, but in black :)

I love these invites. I am thinking of going with them myself, but I wish they had more colour selection :( We'll probably just go with black and maybe tie a green ribbon around them or something.

We did our wedding registry today at Target.

It was pretty fun, we suck at it though, only 23 items on it

Man, it'd be too hard to do a wedding registry for like a 200 person wedding.

Blah, what a pain.

I just had to fix the wedding registry with Target because alot of the items were in store only.

I had to go online and find their online pages for almost every single item.

It helped me remember that I wanted a cast iron dutch oven and cast iron skillet though

Peachey- Ugh, that sucks about the caterer! But maybe it was a blessing in disguise. He can't be very successful or good if he's decided to close up business without properly informing his clients right? That's not right.

We did our wedding registry today at Target.

Man, it'd be too hard to do a wedding registry for like a 200 person wedding.

 Oh I remember doing that! We registered at Target too. Our registry pretty much sucked. There wasn't much on it, and then half the things that were ended up as in store only or no longer available. I couldn't be bothered to change it. We had like 3 people actually buy something from the registry... but the other guests used it as a guide and got similar things from different stores. It worked out!

I called 2 catering companies this morning. Left a message on the first one, and talked to someone at the second place. They are really nice, and said they have lots of events booked for 2010, so they're not going out of business!

They said they will get back to me next week with their proposal.

Holy frig, mine's next... :crying:

I can't believe that. I'm going shopping on Friday with a couple girls hopefully... have to get some things for the dressing fitting and get all that sorted out. The store said my dress would be in the first week of December, so I'm going to go there on Saturday if I don't hear from them by then. eep! and my bachelorette party is on Saturday! eep!

Also, I do think that we aren't going to have a Canadian ceremony anymore. lol So if that could be taken off the list for now.

My aunt's trying to talk me into having a bachelorette party with my aunts.

It seems kind of... lame to me, I don't know.

Not to mention I really, really hate parties like that.

I've decided that, even though we aren't having a "ceremony" per se, I still want pretty pictures to commemorate.

There's a city about fifteen minutes away from where we live that has some incredibly gorgeous parks - parks with arches and fountains and rose gardens... I've emailed the city coordinator to ask what regulations there are in place to just be there, officiate with ourselves and a couple of witnesses, and to take some pictures after the fact. I really don't see why we should need a permit for something so small... so here's hoping...
