Have you guys been to Vegas before? Are you sure you want to be on the old strip? Sometimes you can get some really sweet deals on the Wynn and Bellagio on hotwire, you should check it out! Unless you are are set on the Golden Nugget.

we are going to Vegas between Christmas and New Years.. we got 3 nights at the Mandalay Bay for 200 bucks..

as for Vegas shows there are these booths called Tix 4 Tonight

from their website...

Tix 4 Tonight sells tickets to fabulous Las Vegas Shows at half the box office price! We now offer last minute tickets to some "always sold-out" Las Vegas shows at a smaller discount. These tickets are on availability only and are not available every night.

That is a sweet deal for Mandalay Bay! I liked that hotel, it was nice.

We bought our Cirque tickets at Tix 4 Tonite. It's kind of a pain, because you buy vouchers and then you have to go to the actual box office to actually get the tickets and seats. We definitely saved money, but it probably took about 2 hours out of our morning to get the tickets. We waited in line at the Tix 4 Tonite place for over an hour, then walked to the hotel where the show was playing and bought the tickets.

Whatever you do, avoid all of the people at the booths around the hotels that try to sell you tickets for cheap! They are also trying to sell you a timeshare! They are everywhere, ugh!

We are not set on the Golden Nugget and they've brought the prices down since we booked. So I think we're going to cancel and go with the Mirage or MGM.

The Golden Nugget has a really cool pool. That's what probably attracted Varba to that hotel.

The reviews of the Golden Nugget look pretty good actually. But, I'd personally rather be on the Strip than downtown Las Vegas. There's more to do and see without having to travel all the way to the other side of the strip.

Marilyn - we tried to do mostly free stuff too and there was actually a lot to see! We were there for 8 days and never got bored!

I can't wait to go back to Vegas. I don't know why I love it there so much, but I do!

I talked to Varba and we decided to stay with the Golden Nugget. We'll take a cab when we want to go to a show, or out for a night.

Can't really beat a suite for 100/night.

I think my parents are booking us a suite in Stratosphere.

I wonder how nice they are.

There's also the Deuce bus, it's $7/person unlimited for 24 hours. It goes all the way up and down the strip.

Most of what you'll want to do and see will be down the strip, so you'll probably be down there quite a bit. And, cabs are not that cheap in Vegas.

I would bet that the Golden Nugget would probably be pretty quiet, so that would be a nice benefit!

Rhiann - I'm sure the Stratosphere is nice. I mean, it's probably not going to be super luxurious, but I would guess that the suite is nice and honestly you'll have fun no matter where you stay! That's the beauty of Vegas.

I've stayed in a normal room in the Stratosphere before, they're pretty nice. I mean, it's mostly just a place I sleep in anyway, so it doesn't need to be overly fancy.

Though, a tub that goes up to my shoulders would be great :P
