Weird, so how are they his SILs? Just tell them you are keeping it small. They won't be offended. Or if they are, you probably don't have to talk to them much anyway.

All families are different. In my family I think it would be considered a little strange mainly because there are so many of us, and we aren't really close. Now my husbands family is completely different. Everyone hangs out together in groups, it just happens that way. When your family is small and close, you don't always stop and think about how you're related to someone and what the connection is. So when they have family gatherings you end up seeing "family members" who aren't really directly related to you at all, but related to someone you're related to. But really, its your wedding and your decision. Have you met them? Are they close to your fiance or his family and seem to genuinely care? If so then It doesn't really matter how you are related, they are part of his family right? Just my two cents.

Yeah, I've met them a few times, they're very nice people.

They seem to ask about me from time to time, since my fiance's sister lives next to them in a condo complex.

My fiance and I dont really mind them coming, so maybe we'll invite them. I'll have to think about it.

We got the traditional package + 30 extra minutes on the grounds. We're looking into either the tux rental or that service where they take you to get your marriage license etc. Looking at ordering the cake from them as well, but we're not sure yet.

I dont even have 260 people to invite. My family is tiny and alot of people on my dad's side are on bad terms with eachother or on bad terms with my dad, so yeah. And the two people we could invite from his side are going on vacation in December, so they probably wouldn't be able to afford it.

I'd prefer a smaller wedding anyway.

If you'd like I can find out where my husband rented his tux, it was only about $70-100. I don't remember exactly. And you can get it the same day that you rent.

Whoa. Do the thing where people have to pin money to your dress! Even if they only each give a dollar...... lol

We do the "dollar dance" around here - it's a polish tradition (even if our family isn't, the area has picked it up as an obligatory part of the reception!). It's usually right after all the "official" dances, before everyone is invited to the dance floor.

And 260 is a lot to me too, but we knew it was going to be like that. My family takes up the first 106 spaces on the invitation list (we're a close, and HUGE, family), and then another 50 or so "local" friends (church family, longtime family friends, etc). Spoom has about 50 friends/family that he's inviting and I have about 50 friends that I'm inviting. I'd like to have more of my friends there, but I think at that point we're getting ridiculous!
