Just wondering if someone could shed some light on what's going on here. I (USC) sponsored my parents for IV. Their case was completed by NVC and interview date was set for April 29th. However, when my parents went to get their medical done, the Dr told them that it's better to contact the Embassy and see if all the papers are there, just to ensure everything's in place. When my parents went to the embassy a week ago, the embassy told them to come with all the paperwork on April 9th. Since, all the paperwork were already sent to the embassy thru NVC, so they went to embassy yesterday (9th) and submitted their passport and passport pictures. The individual at the embassy kept the passport and the picture and ask my parents if they can come back on the 20th instead of 29th (their initial interview schedule date). I asked my parents if any interview was done yesterday, and they said "no... nothing was asked", which lead me to believe that their interview hasn't been conducted yet. What do u think is going on here?? Any ideas? Thanks for anyone's help.

4-29-09 Interview Date (Interview rescheduled for earlier date of 4-20-2009)

4-20-09 Interview Successful (asked to come back for the visa on 4-23-2009)

4-23-09 Visa Received

5-22-09 US Entry : Entry at IAD.

Sounds like the embassy justed moved up the interview. Have them get their medical and be at interview on April 20th.

I dont think there is anything to worry about.

Yeah, I also believe their interview date was moved to the 20th and all they would need now is take the medical envelope to the interview. Good luck!!!

I was wondering if you could please post later and in detail how the interview went. My parents have their interview on May 18th and I'd like to know what questions they ask. Thanks a lot and again good luck!!!

My parents got the visa and I’m so relieved and happy. This website has been a great help through out the process and I wanted to thank everyone for their support and well wishes.

This is their recount of the interview:

Their interview date was scheduled for April 29th, but when they went to the embassy to ensure that all the paper work was in place, the staff at the embassy asked if they would like earlier date of April 20th for the interview. Their interview was set for 1:30pm, but they didn’t make it there till 2:00pm. They waited for about half an hour and their names were called. First, they called my mom to a window and took her finger print, then asked her to wait. Similarly, my dad’s name was called and he was finger printed as well. Then after 15 minutes, their names were called again and the counselor asked them few questions:

What does your son do in US?

Is your son married? Is your son married to the native girl (Nepali girl)?

Does you son/daughter-in-law have any kids?

Then, the counselor asked in Nepali to both my parents, “how’s your health?”. They replied, “good”. The counselor asked them to confirm that all the information on the form were accurate and sign where marked “X”. I’m assuming this was the DS-230 part II where my parents put their signature. They were asked to come back Thursday for the visa. If not counting the wait in line, the whole interview process lasted about half an hour. The finger printing was few minutes, then wait for their name call for the interview was 15 minutes, and the interview itself was about 15 minutes.
