UPDATE ON MY VISA

So I went and got my visa today. yay!!! anyways, i asked a couple of questions.

Apparently you do not have to adjust your status in US for K3. However, you can continue your CR1 process with Montreal. There are some K3'ers who want to stay in Canada (even when K3 has been completed) and wait for the CR1. Or you can stay in US and still continue CR1 in Montreal. The embassy said either way they work out to about the same dollar figure b/c of your flight and hotel. ....... Adjusting your status and filing AOS, EAD, etc is just one way a K3 can obtain their GC. The embassy said if you're not following the CR1 Montreal, you should call NVC or email them and let them know you'll want to cancel that process as that 130 is "pending" and having K3 is also "pending". You will have 2 pending petitions in your record until you have a GC. And NVC will send you notices and reminders if you want to continue with your I130.

I also asked about my name change and you can do this as well but it has to match your passport. So before you change your name on your visa, it has to be the same as your passport as that's the ID they are following.

and they gave me my original birth certificate back also
