Being allowed into the room is the CO decisions

Seems like they tend to let K1's into Fiance into the room as a rule.

If you are already married from what I have seen and read it seems like those are the ones they don't sit in the room with Fiance.

They let me in the room

We did Interview at USEM and CFO same day.

Next Day we were on plane out of Manila, I can't stand Manila.

I was back in beautiful Davao

She speaks English well. We talk on the phone ever day for an hour. She just gets confused and misunderstands things. She 2nd guesses herself.

as they say, the key here is practice. make sure she's consistent with her answers and say them with conviction. you might be able to go with her in the interview but you can't always answer for her. anyway, good luck!

agree, practice makes it perfect...even she's sleeping, she still memorizing, back in college days we memorized and memorized just be careful coz it might what you've memorized is not being asked by CO just kidding......as long as she knew all your info or all about you, she will be fine :)

well, my advice is to teach her to say "pardon, I didn't understand the question." Or "I'm sorry, can you repeat the question?" or "If I got it correctly, you wanted to know xxx"

make sure she knows how to say these and don't choke out.

Good luck! Lots of Filipinas who can't communicate well in English passed the interview... you guys shouldn't worry to much. Just stick to the facts and you'll be okay.

Would it hurt my fiance's chances to request an interpreter at the interview? She is much more comfortable speaking her language and isn't as likely to get confused. Do they look down upon this?

My fiancee had a interpreter and had problems as things can get mixed up in the process.

Better without one. Especially in the Philippines where most speak good English. COs can question how you communicate if you don't speak her language.

That is what I was afraid of. Thank you.

How do you advise that she handles questions she doesn't understand. Sometimes when I ask her a simple question she totally doesn't understand.

I asked her "How did your fiance ask you to marry him?" She didn't understand what I meant by that. I was wanting her to tell the story of our engagement but she misunderstood. I am a little worried for her. She is shy (but sweet) and gets very nervous. Any advice would be a God send.

I suggests that if your fiancee gets confused with the questions, she may ask the interviewer to repeat the questions until she finally figures it out.

Also, I am going to the embassy with her. Will they let me in the room while she is being interviewed? Will me being there help? Hopefully they will take it a little easier on her seeing that I am there.

wow, well just kept on practicing question and answer portion with her...and being with her on interview thats nice but i guess she will being asked so she needs to answer.....

Shang is right better start practicing the CO will ask questions much confusing. I hope the CO will interview her is nice for sure CO will ask how you two fell inlove if she can't understand and speak simple english

lt is not always true that they let you in the interview with them. i went to be with wife on interview and was with her the whole way till she got to co interview then the lady asked if i would sit in the hall and wait.but the pre-screener ask me more questions then my wife. it help my wife feel more comfortable for me to be there anyway so yes go be with her but some co let you in and others ( the grumpy lady) dont

it's true, you will not always be allowed in the booth with your fiancee for the CO interview,if you're lucky to be let in questions for you (if any) will only be for you...when it's her turn, you won't be allowed to answer on her behalf. she should start understanding the important questions, they're not really difficult. if she understnds and speaks tagalog, she's good to go, but if she speaks her dialect only, she'll need to do her homework to make sure she gives an appropriate answer to every question .

from experience and survey of girls interviewed the same day i was, if your docs are well organized and more than complete, questions in the actual interview will just be trivial, -the easy ones. it's really your documents that will tell if she'll be approved a visa or not. .if there's info in the docs that needs to be clarified, that's asked too during the interview. good luck to both of you.

I have a feeling that since you do talk everyday, her English skills are above average. That, however, does not mean her confidence level is good. A lot of the girls I interviewed with were pretty nervous. But keep in mind that that day - only one out of the 20 something got a white slip coz she was not prepared with all the necessary documents (she was messed up with her organization) and not all of the applicants have great english at all. That should be encouraging. Let her know that most of the COs are actually very nice. You have to carry yourself in a proper manner. It's ok to be nervous, but there's no reason for her to be scared. :)

Good luck! She will do just fine!
