Can you get the medical exam without an official request from the USEM? I seem to get conflicting information.

What if I don't have medical records?

What are the things they usually look out for? Is it easier for married couples than for an engaged couple (fiance/e visa)?

We have been living together in Thailand for a year. Have lots of photos and joint lease (plus renewal). Have proof that we communicate regularly with our families. We even have package receipts from them, mails and chat logs. My husband is going with me to the interview. We plan to bring about 60 photos, 20-30 pages of email and phone records.

We had known each other for many years (almost 9 years). He has a previous marriage. Does this look solid enough?

We got our medical done before we got packet 4. We just DL the paper of the internet and brought it to Bumrungrad hospital. We did a K1 fiancee visa so I'm not familiar with the marriage visa. We brought about 200 photos and about 100 emails and tons of phone records. If you have more I'd bring them just in case but IDK if it will make a difference. Better safe than sorry. Your husband may not be let in with you, they made me (petitioner) wait outside. And I'm not trying to scare you but the guy is unpredictable. He may be nice, he might not. I was previously married and they asked my fiancee all the details so make sure your familiar with when and why they were divorced.

We didn't have any medical records. We went to the hospital with the medical papers printed from online and photos, they asked for no other information from the USEM, but I was with my husband and so perhaps it was more convincing.

Can't tell you what they usually look for, wish I knew myself.

Your evidence sounds good, alhtough I haven't passed an interview so you will have to ask others.

Don't forget that the American Citizen has to prove domicile as well.

oh for the medical they check for HIV, syphilis, and TB? I think. And if they ask if you've ever smoked pot, say no. You will get denied for admitting drug use. I'm not saying you've used drugs but you know. They're probably going to give you Vaccines and take a Xray of you chest. It cost about 5000 baht total.

Could say like Bill Clinton, "I smoked but I never inhaled." Ridiculous, eh?

No appointment is necessary for Bumrungrad hospital. My fiancée brought the forms, but I've been told the hospital has copies of all necessary forms as well. All the best to you.

Thanks to you all. :) I guess this means I can just download the forms at Bumrungrad's website and use those for the visit. Can I do this before our case arrives from NVC to the USEM? Or do you wait until the package gets here first?

Yes, I'm familiar with the divorce and we have proof of domicile. Do they ask questions about one's background that aren't in the forms? Like what school did the petitioner graduate from?

I heard that the medical is good for six months but I'm not sure. thats something I read somewheres in these forums. They didn't ask which school I graduated from but did ask my parents names and where they lived. There's sample questions somewheres on this site. The biggest thing he wanted was details on exactly how we met. My fiancee said he kept coming back to that. For some reason he didn't believe her.

Best of luck.

The information on this thread is quite accurate. The medical is good for 6 months till presented at the Interview in Bangkok, and it should be good for 12 months for purposes of AOS in the US.

These topics and many, many more are discussed regularly on the Sawasdee3 thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=175951

I wanted to thank you for starting this thread! It has been such an area of discussion and concern. We're due soon to start getting our paperwork shortly (medical, police single). Based on what I read, someone had the excellent idea of bringing duplicate originals (ask for 2 certified copies) so when the assistant claims it's not in the file, the applicant can smile and politely whip out a duplicate certified copy.

Basically I'm going to make an entire double file with originals, etc and go over it with her since it appears many things "are not in the file" that really are (and found after denial appeal). This seems standard procedure during the interview. Apparently the assistant's favorite word is "no have"...seems to be some personal vendetta (?) vs your typical screening (compared to other embassies) because I can't imagine these same stories surfacing over and over by chance all with the same story (with people here and people I've met off VJ). ...perceived degrading comments, raised voices-culturally subjective or not, they all cried and it seems the denial (initial denial) rate is unusually high for papers that were present in the first place (make sure she/he knows where everything is and what it is).

I'd like to understand more (personality-wise) what exactly seems to tip him off? Anyone know? Any suggestions?

WOW! I am IMPRESSED! Nice list!

So you're saying I don't need a bank officer? Can I just get my statements or download from online? My lawyers office is saying this bank office statement stuff but doing mortgages in the past, we never even did that...we got copies of bank statements.

I just wanted to clarify if this is really needed or a Lawyer's office thing or shoudl i do that?

Thanks!

It is not an initial denial. It is we need more information. This is a big difference.
