Thats called a service request. You will get a letter that states the same thing you can see on the USCIS website.

Call and ask for an expedite and use the out of 6 month range as your reason. You can also get better information if you contact your local congressional office. Call them and tell them your priority date is past the 6 months stated on the USCIS website. THey will do an inquiry and theyare supposed to get back to you within a 48 hours I think. Make sure they have your e-mail address so they can let you know the status.

A number of people have put in service requests after reaching the 6 month mark at VSC. This should get some attention onto your case. I would recommend you reaching out to your congressman and having them also put in a request to get a status update.

Good luck!!

Thank you for your advice.

I did email congressmen a few times, no respond.

I guess I have to find a phone # and call.

How I can do it? Online?

I am in New Mexico.

Thanks

google your congressman in your area. Definitely call. They never respond to the e-mails. They will ask you to fill out a release form. Just fax it back with all the requested information. They have direct contacts at VSC and NVC. They can get detailed information that the USCIS reps can't see on their screens.

GOOD LUCK

You can still call your congressman and ask them to do an inquiry. You will be able to find out if you case is with an adjudicator. The USCIS hands out generic answers to pacify people when they call. They are all scripted. CALL YOUR CONGRESSIONAL OFFICE...

Please fill out your timeline to match your statement, it's hard to judge if you are within or outside of the 6 months time frame.

Thank you

Congressmen & Senators are great help if you are not in the dreaded security checks!! If you are unlucky enough to be in them, as we were, then there's nothing you can do but wait.

Your service request will tell you if your petition requires further background (security) checks.

Good Luck!

Thanks for all advices!!! I called USCIS and they told me I'll have some answers in 45 days and I called Congressman, they told me that I'll have reply from them SOON.

Will see...I can't wait when this will be over! My husband is going completelly crazy. We never think it takes so long.

What means "security check"? They will check me or him???

Some people are unlucky enough to have their petitions dragged through extra checks. Some say it's due to a name check that brings up a 'flag'. I don't think anyone knows for sure. As far as I'm aware it's the petitioner (USC) who is checked at USCIS.

We were put in these extra checks & everything must've been OK because we received our NA02.

Don't worry, your case maybe totally fine. I'm just making you aware that this can happen.
