Hi, I am not usually on the China forum because neither my spouse nor I are chinese. However, I was talking to somone today and their story concerned me so I am here for some advice to pass on.

He is 53 years old, a USC and has been married before (albeit to another USC). In the course of our discussions he told me that his girlfriend is chinese and lives in china (they met through a website he thinks is called meetasianpeople.com). She is coming to the US soon to be with him. A this point I metioned my own experiences with immigration as a spouse but he said they were not getting married yet. When I probed deeper I discovered that he does not know what visa she is entering the US on, only that he will have to meet her at the airport as he has to sign for her? I was not sure what he meant but then, neither did he. Does any of this sound familier to anyone? Does one have to be "signed for" to enter from china on certain visas? It all sounded sketchy to me and I told him so, I also told him to find out more about the documents she sent him and not to sign anything until he knew waht he was signing. I have given him the visa journey site and told him to research, he may even read this.

If anyone has any insight it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Yes very fishy to me, the consulates in China don't issue visitor's visas easily.

Never heard of someone signing for a visitor from China.

You may want to refer the person to "A Candle for Love" http://candleforlove.com

Hope he's not sending her money. I imagine there are scammers in China also. Who's paying for the plane trip?

I am not sure on either count. I do not really know this gentleman but we got talking in the course of business and I thought I would enquire for him. All I know is what I have written. Its an incomplete story as I did not feel comfortable probing for more info at the time. I will pass on any advice or insights and encourage him to come on VJ himself with more of the story.
