We use to use skype till we used it so much that we broke her computer. Her soundcard stopped working. She is very thrifty (not cheap) and wants to save money so rather then getting a new soundcard or computer we log on to chat, turn on the cams and I use skype to call her cell phone. It's akward, but works.

I know every case is different, but when I see some people getting NAO2 in as little as 45 days and others as long as 190 days for K-1 I am sitting on pins chewing my fingernails.

What do you do to help pass the time. Almost everyone here is on a different time zone from their loved one, so taking the time to chat and talk on the phone needs to be scheduled.

I am a little lucky that I have been very busy at work (almost 14 hour days). I should get back to studying my chinese, but when I listen to my MP3 lessons it makes me homesick for her even more.

We have been waiting for our NOA2 almost 5 months, but one made us happy that this process had started ;)

I understand you Sean :) Some times I am filled with rage about this process. The rest of the time I try to think positively and look at the wait time as time to improve myself and focus on things I may not have time for when I am married, you know ?

Try to convert your feelings of anger/heartbreak/sadness/whatever into something productive. That's the best advice I can think of.

I work, I have signed up to be a tutor after hours, and am looking for an art class and intramural sports or something. I try to force myself to go out with my friends even though sometimes I feel like moping and sleeping instead. I write a lot of journal entries/poetry/songs based on my very kaleidoscope-like feelings!

Oh and like you I am also trying to learn my fiance's language; although I feel like a huge nerd speaking it because it's not "my" language, whenever I feel especially embarassed/frustrated about it I try to throw myself into reviewing ablative case or something :P I am sure your fiancee is soo happy you're learning her language, and praciting it over the telephone/skype gives you something to do and it sort of adds a new "level" to your communication :)

Also whenever I feel the most sad and missing my fiance, I start writing a card or letter or making a package to send him.

Oh I also just adopted a cat. So that takes up more of my time, feeding and vacuuming and stuff. hehe..

Don't worry someday the process will end. But don't let even one day to go to waste in the meantime :star:

Try skype webcam as others have suggested. It's a great way to connect with your fiancee!

Also aiming for 45 days is not realistic. We got ours in 3 months and I thought that was fast. Have all your paper work ready, especially proof of income.

I am a big fan of Skype, but mostly for chat and phone calls. Sure itz fun to see honeybaby on cam, but it can also be awkward and stressful being "on cam" for extended time. Another poster pointed out here that it can be frustrating to see your love, and not being able to touch. Cam chat has itz downside too. :star:

The best advice I probably read on VJ was never to worry about the "waiting time" but focus on the planning. My fiancée and I spent countless hours planning and discussing a variety of issues (e.g. cultural differences, living expenses, day-to-day recaps, etc.). Sure, I worried about the waiting time, but there's not a whole lot you can really do. However, once the NOA2 arrives, things start to pick up pace (at least I think) and that's when all that planning really helps you out.

Okay, some people are going to think I (we) are crazy, but (please keep a clean mind), but during the weekends, we turn the cams on and leave it connected regardless what we are doing, cooking, cleaning, sleeping and what not. During the weekday in my morning (her afternoon) I turn my cam on at work. She'll glance at me once in awhile to see me while she's watching TV or surfing the internet.

I really don't feel like she is all the way on the other side of the world since we talk and see each other everyday. The only difference is there is no hugs or kisses.

I am also 12-13 hours behind in time to my lao po. As she says to me... "how to do?" The only thing is to be as tough as she.

While she sleeps I work. We talk in the USA morning and night (her night and morning)
