We had nearly a foot of snow here about two weeks ago, then it rained and everything melted. Since then, it's been snowing, then rain, then sunny for a day or so, then repeats itself. It's actually hailing outside right now. (Zeegendorf (kreis Bamberg - metropolitan Nürnberg), Germany)

It's great to hear that you got through your process so fast! I would also LOVE if you filled out your timeline on here. Did you do the DCF process? Judging by how fast yours was, I'd assume so. And it's great to hear it went so fast, because my husband has doubts that it will be done in roughly 90 days.

We are trying to get to the part of STARTING our I-130 right now. We're thinking my stepsons will be staying here with their mother (hopefully) here in Germany while we set up our lives in California. So, hopefully, we can get the DCF process started in the next month or two. It's only $355 to start, which is only about 250 Euros. Woo! for the weak dollar! hehe

My husband and I will be in Germany for 3 weeks, starting on February 14th. I haven't been back since 17 months then and am very much looking forward to see my family! Not so much to the cold temperatures though. ;-)

I told my mum she would have to greet me at the airport with a wheat roll with a thick layer of butter and some good cheese on it. Can't wait to indulge in all the good German food again!

Shoot for the moon - even if you miss, you'll land among the stars...

Betti! I love the bread. The other day I asked my husband what he misses most about home (besides his family/friends) and he said, without hesitation: The bakeries!

Oh yeah. the bakeries are dearly missed. I used to go to the bakery every day for lunch...a crunchy roll with either cheese, Salami or whatever delicious they would have.

Only 4 more weeks! :-)

My timeline is his timeline. ;) Not sure if it will help you though-he adjusted through VWP. But there it is if you're interested.

Mine too. And drinking in public.

Recently, we started buying hard rolls wherever we can find them and having a Sunday breakfast with them like my husband did with his family growing up. My daughter loves it. It is the only time of the week we let her eat Nutella. :P

Hello, everyone! I've just joined the site as my boyfriend and I are planning to go through the K-1 process and we'd like to connect with others who've been down this road before us! It's midnight here and I'll update my profile soon; for now, I need to get to sleep but I just wanted to give everyone a hello and let you all know that I really got a giggle out of how many of you don't speak German (or much of it, anyway) - I feel better already! :D

Anyway, nice to meet you all and I look forward to getting to know you while learning valuable information about the immigration process!

Welcome to the forums Celtic Dryad!

Feel free to ask questions or just have some general talk about the German in your life. Most of us here are very friendly and helpful.

An update on my case:

My husband and I are currently trying to get a copy of his divorce decree from his previous marriage and then we will be getting that translated into English. Once that is done, we will be starting our DCF process! YAY!!! I couldn't be any happier. :)

Hi everyone,

I was just reading through the messages and wanted to say 'hello'. My wife is from northern Germany... originally Ostfriesland and then Hamburg. I just wanted to add a few things to the previous discussions. Here are some of my favorite foods/drinks when I am in Germany:

- Gruenkohl

- Rouladen

- Alster / Radler in the summer

- Beer in general

- Ostfriesische tea

- Christmas markets/Gluehwein

- Weisswurst with the sweet mustard

- Fresh bread

- Currywurst

Just some random things. I can't wait to visit again!
