yea i know i can make it taste like mezzo mix mixing coke and fanta, but somehow the schwip schwap tastes better, and different

I can do currywurst ( a very frankfurt-ian thing lol) but I can't do curryketchup.. ugh, I hate it.. I like reg ketchup and curry powder, separate.. lol..

oh, for the Quark btw, go to a mexican store, or the mexican section of a walmart in the cheese section (theres one), and look for REQUESON... thats the mexican quark

I enjoy giving my wife a hard time about Quark. I tell her it's glorified yogurt (I know it isnt...but it's fun the make her think I'm just "another American").

She gives me all kinds of grief when ever I say that to her.

I couldn't really figure out what was so great about quark. My husband never really ate it too much and my MIL only used it in a few dishes. I think the only one of real note was some kind of apple-bread-quark filled thing.

Now something I really got hooked on over there was tzatziki. I make it here at home now, which makes my husband really happy. :P

I guess it's more used for cooking than just eating with a spoon..

in Mexico we eat the requeson plain, rolled in a tortilla with salt..

Dunno. I just know quark wasn't exactly a necessity and I could never really figure out what to do with it. My husband never ate it too much, nor can rattle off dishes that just has to have it that he loves. I mentioned to him what you just wrote, Pedro, about quark being available here under another name and he was just like whatever. :P No real reaction. Now, if I told him there was some breaking news, like that Jever was exporting...:whistle:

katzenzungen!!

Asked hubby what that meant-when he gave me the literal translation... :o

Then he showed me this:

Looks yummy! :D

I used to work in the factory that made them, the very product pictured.

They all came running by on the conveyor belt, and I had to make sure they were all sitting properly in their tray, and weren't broken or bruised. And when the "fließband" stopped, you had to hold on to something so you don't fall over.

We also made these:

"Nougattütchen" = little pointy bits of soft nougat with a topping of dark chocolate.

This thread is getting disturbing : I'm not sure what a lot of these products are but I'm hoping they're more innocent than the picture portrays.

What is quark?

Pointless Tale:

My husband and I attended my sister and new BIL's rehearsal dinner last week. At the restaurant, this happened:

Waitress: What would you like to drink, sir?

Husband: You have beer right? I'd like a Beck's.

Waitress: K.

Some time later the waitress comes back, but instead of Beck's has Bass.

Husband: Um, excuse me ma'am, I didn't order this. I wanted a Beck's.

Waitress: Oh we don't have that. We normally don't carry dark beers.

Husband: Beck's is a pilsner...?

Waitress: Oh, well, we only carry Beck's Dark if we have it. Do you want to see if we have that?

Husband: Aghhh! Blasphemy!

Then he thought he had dodged a bullet because then he only had to drink Bass as opposed to Beck's Dark.
