2nd Letter of Intent to Marry

I'm about to send my fiancee my I-134 and associated documents. I read where a 2nd letter reaffirming my intent to marry her within 90 days of her arrival is suggested maybe even required. Can the form be the same as the original letter of intent? I have that example from VJ but I'm just curious as to what others have done at this point in their journey.

Thanks!

Sure, just add that you continue to support your foreign fiance(e) and sign with a new date. My Abby just informed me that they never even asked for it, but better safe huh?

Dang it, I forgot to also ask should I address it to the Embassy in Manila or Homeland Security Dept as in the first letter.

Thanks!

Oh now I'm remembering other items. On DS-156 form I remember seeing a lot about question 39 and 40. I prepared the form and am sending it to my fiancee for her signature. What again do you answer for #39? Sorry but I'm about to go to work and don't have time to look for the topic on VJ.

Thanks!

I just used the template here on VJ and I think it was addresses to:

USCIS

Homeland Security

DOS, and

USEM in Manila

I plan to answer No and leave 40 blank, even though I will prepare the form myself.

That form is to come from the embassy, officially, so it would be used if she was to have someone locally help her fill it out.

I guess you could answer Yes and then your name and address but I wonder if that would be too confusing.

And for my second letter on intent, I'll embellish a litte more than the first one, which was a duplicate of the example form here on VJ. I plan to mention supporting her adopted son who will accompany her.

My thought is to use this letter to help bridge to information of proof of an ongoing relationship. We plan to include documents showing her son's pre-enrollment in preschool here in the states.

It is probably overkill, but we want to do everything to prevent any delays.

Yes my fiance and I had a letter of intent and they asked it from us. So we had two copies, one for my intent to marry him within 90 days on my arrival here and the other was his intent to marry me within 90 days. Same letter content we just changed the name to his for his intent and mine to my intent. We addressed it to

United States Department of Homeland Security where we sent our docs to apply for the I-129 F.

I have a topic for Visa Requirements. Go to my account and click Recent topics. You will find useful info there.

Someone posted earlier that #39 & 40 is primarily designed for an attorney if we had one--which makes sense even though I filled it out. I'm going to say no to that and if they ask Grace about it tell her to say that I assisted but she filled it out. I also have simply duplicated my original letter of intent to marry from my I-129F application but obviously used a current date.

Thanks all for your help and your experiences!

Best wishes,

Steven & Grace

I took this from one of My post Visa Interview Requirements.

b. DS-156 NONIMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION.

* Make TWO (2) Copies. Do not leave any field unasnwered. If it is not applicable to you, write NA otherwise they will give it back to you and will ask you to fill it in completely. If you have question what to information to write, you can PM me. I will try my best to answer it. On question 39, if it is only you and your fiance prepared it, answer NO. Then put NA on Name under Q#40. You dont have to put NA to the questions that follow it. Q#41: Dont forget to sign it. Just sign no need to write all your name and sign.

c. DS-157 SUPPLEMENTAL NONIMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION

* Make TWO (2) Copies. Do not leave any field unasnwered. If it is not applicable to you, write NA otherwise they will give it back to you and will ask you to fill it in completely.

d. DS-156K NONIMMIGRANT FIANCE(E) VISA APPLICATION.

* Make ONE (1) Copy ONLY. Do not leave any field unasnwered. If it is not applicable to you, write NA otherwise they will give it back to you and will ask you to fill it in completely.

I hereby certify that I am legally free to marry and intend to marry , Complete Name of your Fiance/Fiancee a U.S. citizen, within 90 days of my admission into the United States.

Sign below it write the date and place where your signed it. I know it says: DO NOT WRITE BELOW THIS LINE

The consular officer will assist you in answering this part. I actually did not sign mine when I when I submitted it but they said it should be signed so they have to give it back. Sp just sign it when you are already in the Embassy before you will submit these forms so the date and place when and where you will sign in is current.
