Confused and Need Advice! K3 in Juarez Mexico

Things are going well with our visa process but I am confused as to my next steps, here's some background info...

I filed I-129F and I-130 concurrently for my Spouse Maggie in Mexico in November 2008. The I-130 approval notice arrived February 20th in my mailbox.

Maggie sent via email the DS3032 letter. She received an email back several days later that the letter form had been successfully submitted/accepted.

I paid both the IV and AOS bills online.

Just yesterday I received a letter from the U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juarez. Maggie's been scheduled for an interview on May 8th!!! At the bottom of the letter it does say "Preference Category: K3 - MEX". The appointment letter pointed us to: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/immigr...visa-forms.html

HOWEVER, this is where I'm confused. Do I do the following?

PACKET 3

Send IV (DS-230) and AOS (I-864) packages to the U.S. Consulate in Juarez before interview date.

Obtain the docs on the checklist to bring to the interview.

PACKET 4

Review medical exam procedures and obtain docs on checklist for the interview.

Complete Medical Exam prior to Interview.

Anything I'm missing here?

My confusion is that I thought I would have to send the IV and AOS packages to the NVC. But looks like I send them directly to the US Consulate in Juarez.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Tim

Your interview is for K3 not CR-1 you dont send any documents to the Embassy. Documents for CR-1 must be sent to NVC. I am in the same position, I have chosen to send my docs to NVC and hope they complete the case there before the K3 interview date, the NVC will forward all your documents to the Embassy when CR-1 case is completed with them. It would be a different interview date for your CR-1 assigned by NVC and it may be possible for NVC to change your scheduled K3 interview date to a CR-1 interview but this is not guaranteed. It may only be a matter of weeks between the interview dates and you can still do both but much better to enter with CR-1 than the K3 as you will enter as a resident and get your GC and wont have to pay more to adjust status which is what you must do if you enter on the K3

Hope this helps.

Are you going to just ignore the K3 interview date (if you get that one first) and go to the CR-1 interview appointment?

Also, are you sending ORIGINAL documents for your birth/marriage certificates etc.?

Thanks!

Documents to the consulate are either sent by NVC or you take them with you for the interview.

If I know the CR-1 interview date before the the actual K3 interview then I will probably just go to the CR-1 if its not too much time between.

Yes I am sending original documents to NVC.
