What they will do once legalized is not something either of us knows. You choose to assume they will break the law again, because they broke the law once (their initial unlawful entry). I choose to assume they won't, because for the vast majority the only reason they broke the laws was to gain entry and employment in the US. I believe once you remove those barriers, most (not all) of them will be fine, decent Americans. Now, we both choose to believe in different outcomes for our own different (and valid) reasons. This isn't really something we can 'debate' because neither of us can look into the future and know.

An amnesty will trigger the next wave of illegal immigration just as the past amnesties have. Anyone thinking that it won't is kidding him/herself. The message sent by such action is for anyone to come whichever way they can and they'll be accorded full residency and eventually citizenship rights in due course.

Legalize those that are eligible to be legalized (no criminal convictions besides crossing the border/sea illegally) and set up a system that won't let employers hire illegal immigrants by matching the real name to the real SSN and if they don't comply heftily fine their behinds...

Pretty much those that are imprisoned and fined the heck out of them will not hire a single illegal alien in their life. You have to solve the issue by the source, they come because somebody is hiring them aren't they? if you just slap their wrists and say "bad employer don't do it again ok?" they will never learn...

exactly my point, with was stated as unstated. the only win in legalising illegals is for the illegals. everybody else suffers. frankly, i don't give a rats a$$ about illegals. they know they are not welcome in America, and should go home. i have no sympathy for them, at all. it's not over, and the title of this thread is way unreal.
