I could care less if he farts, bcz we all do it ... but to bow down before a king or president and hes our leader.... not acceptable... farting is OK bowing down is NOT.

Is this some precedent?

I wonder whether Obama (and Presidents past) have bowed to the Pope or the Queen of England.

Im sure someone will come along and say that its no big deal ...

I'm not sure I see how it is...

I mean... we're now down to analysing body language and nonverbal social gestures. I wonder if there will be a play by play analysis to decide if Obama farted in public based on a quick shake of one leg.

You sir have made my day.

I'm quite amused by the last sentence.

Well as usual there's more humour in real-life. The Barack and Michele Obama "terrorist fist jab" for example.

So if he turned around and farted on the Saudi King it's acceptable?

Of course not.

Correct. I was just being silly. Anyways so he's President but the fact is understood going into this he's still a newbie so cut the guy some slack. It's still his first 100 days on the job. People don't usually get their first review on the job until 90 days up to a year.

Wait a minute - what if... and call me crazy... What if President Obama farted at a summit meeting and then... *gasp* didn't own up to it!!!???

Well his 'review' isn't till the midterms.

Till then, we get to talk about his performance.

There are too many exceptions. The better predictor is presidential popularity. The correlation between a president's Gallup rating immediately before the midterms and his party's performance is "very strong". Obama will need to sustain a 65% approval rating if the Democrats hope to avoid losing ground in the House. Source: link

I suspect however that this kind of "talk" on his performance will continue beyond the midterms even if he retains popularity.

Obama's new Foreign policy suggests that the US "bow" to others...Not a good idea.

He did a significant "bow", indicative of deep sorrow and regret in Japanese custom. Wondering if there are similar meanings in the Middle East?

In India, which has a great deal more in common (culturally) with the ME than Japan does, a bow of that nature is a mark of subservience. Notice how the King doesn't bow back. That is typically how it is done in India as well.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Well, then he F'cked up big-time. A sad commentary about the inexperienced in the role of President. Wasn't this mentioned months ago? I thought so.......
