Britain was already in a war long before the Americans deemed it necessary to join in the fight against Hitler, only when it served America's interest did the US join in.... when we asked for help American's didnt want to know... much the same as when the Falklands war broke out.... the American ambassador was too concerned about keeping in with the Argentine government.

I agree that France is a much better ally than Britain has ever been...if that's what you are saying. I just hate it when the British act all high and mighty with their tiny tea cups and their snobbery like we owe them our gratitude for colonizing half the world. I see them more like a cancer that needed to be cut out. Bzzzt...No. The US President has defined protocol expectations and is the most scrutinized public figure, therefore they generally comply. All previous Presidents did not "buck" protocol, although they had the authority to do so.

This was never an issue until the Saudi incident.
