lol... ok ..if you want to believe your version of history so be it.... it isnt nearly as clear cut as you seem to think... Britain was already in a war long before the Americans deemed it necessary to join in the fight against Hitler, only when it served America's interest did the US join in.... when we asked for help American's didnt want to know... much the same as when the Falklands war broke out.... the American ambassador was too concerned about keeping in with the Argentine government.

I believe you owe a debt of gratitude to the French for your victory over the British for your independance?

I agree that France is a much better ally than Britain has ever been...if that's what you are saying. I just hate it when the British act all high and mighty with their tiny tea cups and their snobbery like we owe them our gratitude for colonizing half the world. I see them more like a cancer that needed to be cut out. I suppose it's best to keep your friends close and your enemies closer, but you Brits better watch yourselves because we'll put the smackdown on you so fast, you won't even have time to say, "God save the queen!"

The boy is definately a swallower!

The UK and Australia are just run of the mill regular countries. They are not America.

With all due respect..."trashing" other countries with this kind of remark merely points out your lack knowledge regarding both aforementioned countries.

He is right. There's nothing extraordinary about the UK or Australia. They are hardly a blip on the map.

And this just shows the reasons Americans are despised the world over. It's got sod all to do with Presidents Bush, Clinton, Reagan, Carter, or whoever. It's people like you, ordinary American idiots, who like to look down their noses at everyone else and think that they are better. You poor, sad, deluded chump.

He was messing with you. Nice bite on the bait.

:jest: Sorry to truffles and all the Brits here who took me seriously.

As a point of reference please note that Obama didn't bow to Queen Elizabeth during his meeting with her.

A video is worth a million words.

Pretty big difference between that minor head bob and the genuflect he did to the Saudi King wouldn't you say?

Having followed this thread since it started, Gary captured the issue as highlighted above.

Diplomatic protocol is the issue here, and in this case, Obama dropped the ball.

Despite the partisan inferences, this is purely about the US President and official protocol with respect to foreign dignitaries. Period.

Where is the rule book?

Do you even know what you're talking about?

I bet as soon as Obama appears on TV or his name is mentioned you start throwing pizza boxes and empty beer cans at the screen.

Being blinded by the words of ones leader will never alow one to see the truth.

Diplomatic protocol "rules" are written text, but not available to the public. When I served in the US Diplomatic Corp, it was required reading.

Bowing is not acceptable, unless it is a local "reciprocated" custom, as in Japan. One of the countries I had the pleasure to serve in.

The President has a bit more latitude I think.

Bzzzt...No. The US President has defined protocol expectations and is the most scrutinized public figure, therefore they generally comply. All previous Presidents did not "buck" protocol, although they had the authority to do so.

This was never an issue until the Saudi incident.

He dropped the ball, although unintentionally. We will get over it.
