The God of the Bible is spoken of as Father and He came to earth as a male...that is why He is referred to as "He".

Sorry, the God of the bible won't get any respect it seems. But other "gods" will. I definitely admire you trying to have the conversation about this though, but if you get a response it might not be very respectful (hope I am wrong). I get along with lots of people who believe much different than me because I don't preach to them and they know what I believe from reading my posts over time, and they don't go out of their way to belittle my faith (what do I mean "go out of their way?" just look at the "10 ways Jesus changed the world thread", ppl went out of their way to make it crappy). I am not going to change who I am or what I believe, and "thank God" that I don't have to. Some people like me, and some don't. I know that I try to actually be nice most of the time, and am usually a very nice person, but I won't quiet my opinions just because they might annoy others.

I saw an exhibit on the Aztecs at the British Museum a few years back - their gods were REALLY scary looking. It was an amazing exhibit though, I'm so glad I saw it.

I tell you, they were scary and mean, the Aztec gods. They were, in most cases, an extreme representation of human emotion, though. And what I do like about them is the fact that they were not anthropomorphic, even if they had -most of them- specific gender.

The exhibit was one that was travelling the world and tickets sold out early. On display were sacrificial items, jewellery and statues of the gods. It was pretty amazing.

What I found even more shocking was the fact that the Aztec empire didn't last that long, around 200 years or so, until the Spanish came and killed them all to steal their gold. Made me mad!

Oh, the story of our country is bloody and sad sister indeed. One of these days I can tell you what the Spaniards did (well, the Catholic Church) to the Aztec and other pre-Hispanic gods. Really "charitable" #######

The exhibition didn't hold back - it told the story pretty much as it was, I think. I've done some reading up on it too and the exhibition seemed spot on.

Can I ask, when did God become Jesus? Or am I confusing stuff up here? This question is a genuine question - I'm curious.

When I was young, God was the guy up in the clouds and Jesus was the one on the ground. Now, they are both the same person. When did that happen???

Yes haha, how ppl tend to think of things. The godhead is made up of 3 parts, Father, Son, and Holy spirit. Think of 1 x 1 x 1 = 1. there are 3 separate entities, yet they still equal 1.

here are Jesus words:

Reading that quote from the Bible makes me think that god could be regarded as our inner voice. We all have one, but how we interpret it is different. Some choose to align themselves with a religion, others tend to just be nice people and do good things, others ignore it entirely, and some choose to think it is a psychic connection somewhere.

I have an inner voice, one that tells me when things are a good idea or bad, one that tells me not to eat that choccy bar, a voice that tells me to check the doors are locked and so on.

I don't call this "god" though, just astute intuition.
