I dont really think whatever you heard is true! It doesnt make any sense to me! The only differ btw the two visa's is that one need conditions to be removed after a specific time period and the other is for 10years. in both cases you DO get a greencard. so i dont think it is true

I agree. As long as every applicant has enough evidence any visa can be approved, be that a K1, K3, or CR1/IR1. It doesn't really matter.

I disagree with the other posters, I do think IR-1s are somewhat easier to get. Simple because to get an IR-1, you need to be married more than two years. Thus, you are more likely to have lots of bonafide marriage evidence, and know the answers to the questions they might ask about your spouse at the interview. At easier consulates, the mere fact that you are married longer than two years might cause them to approve you unless there are red flags.

Exactly. The odds are better with a longer marriage because it's easier to show a bona fide relationship. It's not like you have a choice of visa. You just have a choice how long after marriage, you file the same petition.

the reason the IR-1 would be easier is because there is less issues to relationship proof. Being married for 2 years is a lot more proof of a relationship than a K-1 with only 1 meeting in person.
