In the letter for interview, the list of documents that they ask for also state that you bring pay-stubs and a letter from your employer, but i have seen here and also logic tells it that, the IO might ignore, or forget asking about your employment, since you already submitted them while applying for AOS. Once again, immi 007, once again, congratulations. It did come down on you suddenly and am sure you weren't prepared or expecting it. But it surely is good news. Please stay in touch.

Christera22: I haven't received NOA2. Although I submitted the I-130 5 months ago, I am not expecting it sooner since I am adjusting status from B1/B2 and they would definitely go for an interview and more proof of a bonafide marriage. But hey, who knows :). I think I should call again today and see what story i get this time.

Immi 007: Just to be on the safe side, if possible, get a Co-sponsor and take the affidavit of Support with the interview. If they ask the question, just explain that you have been laid off and in these times, they would understand. You can simply present the Co-sponsors Affidavit to be attached to the file.

Christera22: You have to have SSN in order to apply jointly with your spouse. I faced the same dilemma when we went to HR Block and they said we should file for an extension and apply when the SSN arrives. Thats what I did. I asked my wife to file for an extension. You have till October to file then. You can download the form online from the IRS website and now that my EAD has been approved, and I have applied for the SSN, I intend to file jointly next week. There is no other way. You may file seperately with an ITIN number if you are in-eligible for a SSN, but its not advisable since filing joinly for taxes do help in your interview.

Thanks Saspak bhai..... yes i know joint filing obviously proves a lot in the interview. I dnt even know when i wd get the EAD & SSN. Hope it wd arrive me within this month. And hope i wdc get enough time before interview. BUt obviously your answer helped as i was perplexed which route to take. How are you managing driving.... i never drove in India and the driving schools here is costly. Again they wont accept me without a SSN..

Hang On there Christera22. I can understand your anxiety since I went through it for the EAD & SS myself. Even here in NY they wont issue you a DL without checking the physical SSN Card. I have been driving in Pakistan, but you know its an all over process for us, since I all my life I have been used to driving on the right side. Even the Drivers seat is on the right. It was tough for me here, but till now I have been cautiously driving on an international Drivers Permit. Even here, the full driving course and then the pre-licensing certificates are ranging between $200-300. If you dont intend to drive in the near future, or want an immediate ID, i would suggest spend an extra $15 and apply for the State ID. Worry about the DL later. For me, i have to, and it can be done sooner, since I am just switching from my international License. I do have to take the Written & Practical Road test though. But will waive my Learners Period. Just be a little more patient. My best wishes and prayers are with you. You must be missing India, with all the election hype going on there.

immi 007: You are VERY VERY Lucky, to have received your interview date that soon. I called CRIS today and the second officer said, since my case is being handled at the New York field office, the online processing time shows they are processing April 2008 cases. He said, its difficult to say when I should expect an interview letter. Depends. Seems like its a looooooooooooooooong wait. Will post if something comes up. Start looking for jobs.... It wont be long before the mail is in your hand.

Congrats Immi 007. Yes, the next one should be the EAD Card. I am currently awaiting the Learner'r Permit. Got the Interim Drivers Permit, but the picture card hasn't arrived yet. God knows when I'll hear about the Interview. I called them and they said, that the NY field office is currently processing cases of April 2008. Looking at it that way, I may not even get a letter for the next 8 months.
