Hi there,

I hope someone here can help me out. A colleague of mine from China has a B1 visa which expired 3 weeks ago. She only realised that it was about to expire the day she arrived in the country. As she was on here on official business for GE she requested for them to complete a letter to notify that they needed her Visa extended by only a month as that was her length of time on the job.

Now a month is almost up, she received the notification letter of delivery for the I539 visa from the Texas center however she still currently hasnt received her visa. So she has a flight for China next week and she still does not have a passport, currently it looks like the center is only processing visa's for May 18th and its going really slow. Another page actually says March 18th so we're not sure which one to believe.

So it looks like the visa may be out of date for the time she originally intended leaving the country when she finally gets it and could have ramifications in the future.

Is there anything she can do to speed it up and will there be a problem if the visa has expired before she gets it in the post? She is currently considering delaying the flight

Thanks for your help...

I'm sorry, if she was there on official business for GE, why was she there on a tourist B1 visa? It makes no sense.
