Hi Everyone,

(I'm a 03/02 VSC to CSC I-751 transfer, but that's close enough to the 02/25 transfers here...)

I agree. As I said before in other posts, "I don't care whether or not I receive that new card or not", rather it is the "being stuck in immigration limbo, and not knowing what is happening with my case/file" that bothers me (and I'm sure everyone else too).

There is "no rhyme or reason" as to the way the USCIS approves I-751 cases. And it's not fair either that they don't honour the "first come first served" rule, and that many others are getting "skipped" because of this as they wait patiently in the line. Sounds like very bad customer service to me, as they don't "deliver when promised, and the customer is not getting what they paid for" (for example, 6 months as promised time-wise from the USCIS site...you can forget about that)...

Meanwhile, this is not a minor matter either, as many people have so many things "on the line" because of these delays. For example, work, education, travel, moving, renewing legal documents, etc. plans have to be re-adjusted and/or re-considered because of the incompentency of the USCIS. As well, there's always that risk of "deportation", waiting for an interview, or getting an rfe, while waiting too. Does this sound fair? No, I don't think so.

Sure a few weeks is nothing in the grand scheme of things of life. But if one has to make crucial decisions and/or have decisions made for them in the meantime, then yes, this could be a serious matter, indeed!

Lol..just my 2 cents (make that my $545+ worth of thought).... :)

Ant (Still waiting for I-751, Still waiting for Baby...)

That's a little dramatic. There is no delay in any of those things. The green card is extended for a year. Now after a year and no card, I could see how there could be problems.

You have to admit it is a major annoyance. My husband showed the NOA for his I-751 when he started a new job since his GC expired and it was scrutinized like you wouldn't believe. Same thing is true for our mortgage application - we almost didn't get approved because they were insisting he wasn't a permanent resident. Also, forget about trying to get a driver's license in NJ with just a one-year extension NOA letter. They won't even look at it. It's a piece of paper with the tiniest wording ever and barely even makes sense.

6/27/06 NOA dates for I-130, I-131, I-765, I-485

7/17/06 received biometrics appt notice

7/27/06 biometrics completed

9/7/06 AP approved

9/13/06 EAD approved

11/6/06 received appointment notice for Dec 19th

12/19/06 Interviewed, approved, received stamp in passport

12/27/06 card production ordered

01/03/07 received green card (envelope postmarked 12/30/06)

09/20/08 Mailed I-751 to remove conditions

09/26/08 NOA date

10/16/08 Received biometrics notice

10/31/08 Biometrics

03/10/09 Transferred from VSC to CSC

Alex, the one year extension is not the issue here. Even if they were to give us a 3 year extension, the outcome will be the same.

There are two issues that are raising our frustration.

1/ the lack of order in processing cases. It is perfectly human to feel discriminated against if you have been waiting patiently for one year and see others being approved in 2 months . Worst , uscis does not tell you why or at least explain that discrepancy. AntabD is perfectly rights by saying that it is a horrible customer service. We have no power to go elsewhere to seek a better service since government services have no competing suppliers. That is frustrating big time.

2/ the uncertainty: The one year ext does not protect you against feeling uncertain about the outcome of uscis decision, and as a result of being uncertain about your immigration status you feel so uncertain about everything else that you want to accomplish ie career , finance, new undertakings etc etc ... No matter how much evidence you provide , the final decision is uncertain. That is the problem.

Thankfully we have this wonderful website with so many great souls to share this very frustrating experience with ...

PS : I think we should ALL call our senators offices in tandem and make them contact USCIS i bet if we put that kind of pressure on they will feel it ... let's do it. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL.

While my I-751 journey just started and I've just been waiting for a little over 2 months, I do feel sorry for the folks who had been waiting for more than 6 months (that's what their target goal is and they couldn't accomplish that). If anyone wants to gather signatures or anything, I wouldn't hesitate to join.

Totally agree with reason 2. That uncertainty does put your life on hold, because you don't know if you will get an RFE, need to gather more information, had to go in for an interview, and I don't know about other people, I'm not going to try going out of the country with an expired GC and a piece of paper (1 yr Ext Letter). Call me a little skeptical!

I just want the damn thing over! This waiting game has been going on for over 3 years now. I'd like a break!

You hit the nail on the head....we all just want a break from the endless waiting and the uncertainty that comes with it. Do people at the naturalization stage go through this too?! God I hope not. Not sure how much more I can take. I'll tell you one thing, I'm practically a tea-totaler but when this is all over I'm going to buy a bottle of champagne and get sh**-faced!!!

You're wrong here.

I went out of the country 4 times with expired GC and the piece of paper and had no issue whatsoever, even when I traveled without my wife.
