Question about medical results and turnaround time for the embassy:

My fiance had his medical today (Friday April 24, 09) and his interview is Tuesday, April 28, 09. Most probably his medical results will not be at the embassy on the day of his interview. So we were wondering, in the case that he gets approved (without AP/AR by some miracle ) will they keep his passport and send it together with his X-ray to him visa SMS once the embassy gets his medical results? Or will they tell him to keep his passport and wait until the embassy contacts him that they got his medical results and ask for him to send his passport to the embassy?

Just curious (and wishfully hoping no AP/AR)

My guess is that they would keep it if he reinforces to them that the medical was Friday and they did not mention any problems with it. They don't like to be responsible for his passport a long period of time (unlike the student visa place) but with the med results due to arrive that day or the next, surely they would keep the passport if everything else was a go. But I guess the new blonde lady who is so strict might not want the passport left until she saw the med results were okay.

Update:

Our fears are confirmed: passport did not show up today.

So in a last-minute effort, we have emailed the Embassy asking for an extension of the interview date. Don't know if it is worth a try since they take on average 3-4 days (at least 2 days according to our past experience) to respond to email. We asked the operator if we could do it over the phone, take to an IO, but refused. We also got the acknowledgment email from the embassy and now we wait...on whether the embassy gets back to us faster or the passport--if neither one, then my fiance will still show up at the embassy on Tuesday April 28 for the interview, we will see how it goes from there.

Oh man i havent been on for a long while and this is the first thread ive read, i so hope you get your passport in time, you really have been thru alot of BS, i thought mine was bad. But to answer your question about them keeping his passport, yea they do, til they get the medical results thru, it then gets send back to you with a nice new visa stapled inside it. Just keep in mind that its all worth it in the end.

I have to apply for removal of conditions ....so it all starts over again for me

in answer to your question, they will keep the passport until the medical results are in and the visa is issued. What this means is that if he does get approved without AR/AP he might not get it back for about 10-14 days.
