Yea dude we just got aproved! And it is true, the new guys a a-hole. He must be bi-polar or something. She said he denied about 10 ppl before he got to her, then the first words out of his mouth were " I can't approve you". I'll give more details later! Thanks for the support y'all.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

2/24/09: NA02 APPROVAL... finally, after 9 MONTHS & 8 DAYS!!

5/5/09 : Interview Date APPROVED!!!!

5/8/09: visa received

From NA01 to interview: 12 LONG MONTHS!!

07/23/09: received SSN

08/17/09: Passed Driving test

08/22/09: Married on beautiful Mackinac Island, MI

08/31/09: Mailed AOS Package

10/20/09: Received AP

10/21/09 Received EAD card

12/7/09 AOS APPROVED!

12/14/09: Green Card arrived in mail. Happy Days!

It's taken 18 months from applying for K1 to receipt of Green Card! Thank God it's over until 12/7/11

Here we go again...

Congrats on your approval. :thumbs:

You might want to check out the Sawasdee 3 thread on VJ, we've had considerable discussion of these issues.

Namely - the BKK embassy policy of only allowing beneficiary to enter for the interview, and not the fiance/spouse.

And - the Consular Officer who has developed quite a reputation for heavy handed treatment of interviewees.

Pity you hadn't found that thread prior to taking the time off work and travel. However all's well that ends well....

If it makes you feel any better - it was the same for me last month. I was at least expecting to get in to sit in an air conditioned waiting room, but instead went accross the street to wait in a coffee shop/food court with another American. Best of luck to you both.

but they let my fiancee in so I guess thats all that counts. I pretty disappointed, I took off work early for no reason and flew to the otherside of the world. Well at least she'll have someone to fly to America with when she gets approved! I should know in a few hours, wish us luck!

Thanks guys! Its been a real trip going through this process and I can't believe its almost over. We leave sunday and should have our visa in hand tomorrow. If your going to have your interview in BKK It's best to have realistic expectations. The guys wacko, happy one day and Hitler the next day. My fiancee basically had to argue with him for 20 minutes trying to convince him the relationship was bona fide. In the end I think coming to Thailand 10 times in 2 years, having alot of evidence, and her being prepared for the interview paid off. But you can never prepare enough, she said he asked at least double the questions we practiced with. It's odd because some ppl recently said he asks 3 questions, but not for us. Anyway thanks for the help and support, if ya have any questions I'll be happy to help!
