Visas are granted by USCIS. Not by god. Seriously, why do you cheapen your faith like this?

Actually, in this case, her husband's fate is in the hands of the US State Department Resident Visa Section at the US Embassy in Manila, Philippines.

However, it doesn't hurt if we ask God for strength and perseverance.

Filipinas are so funny. I'm amazed how much you think God is involved in every little aspect of your lives. It is okay with me, I like it.

Strange then, how the remaining tone of your post seems to be mildly derisive of the whole idea of faith in God.

I also think it is funny when someone's .. approved, and the message is always "Thanks God!" I was kind of jealous of God .. and I kept thinking.. how about thank Dwayne..

I suspect you wouldn't be jealous of someone you didn't believe existed, so I'm thankful for that. But really, do you feel they should be thanking their petitioners? We USC's don't hold sway over the adjudicators, either in the service centers, or the NVC. Neither do we hold sway over the docs at SLEC, nor the COs at the USEM. Yes, in 'scriptural terms', WE may have 'planted the seed'. But, WHO's getting the watering done toward the harvest of APPROVAL? :)

because I'm sure God didn't introduce us, didn't put us together, didn't put me up to filing for her (you know, free will prevents this). Sometimes though, I think God did play a part..

I won't bore you with the details of how I got on this path. However, what you might view merely as a series of extraordinary coincidences, my fellow Believers see as God's orchestration. Just because we DO have free will does not prevent God from putting choices in front of us, and knowing which way we will choose. I can't recall the scripture in Samuel, but David's being pursued by his enemy. He asks God about the result of two choices. God answered him as to what the outcome would be, and David made his decision. Two possible courses of action, and God knew what would happend on EACH one...and what David would choose.

but she is still thanking God (bless her heart). :)

Yes, indeed!

..... God is excused with "everything happens for a reason."

I guess the simple way to look at this is evident if you have children. Do you always tell them your reason for directing them as you do? Or, not wishing to deal with the ensuing argument from your kids, do you merely put your food down sometimes and exclaim, "Because I said so! " ? :D

Moving on w/life
