What do you put on the question that asks about your annual income if you are a self-employed/contracted worker and your monthly income varies?

Thanks

Your current annual income. What do you as a self employed project that to be? What does your 2008 tax return say? How about your deposits to date this year to your personal account? As a self employed you will have to "project" your current annual income and be able to support with such things as bank deposits to date in your personal account. While it is not required, it usually best for a self employed person to also attach a letter from your bank verifying deposits for the last 12 months or 12 months bank statements (personal account, not business account) and 3 years tax returns.

They seek to verify your ability to meet the guidelines for the support affadavit.

My problem is that my employment has changed since 2008. I have been a contracted worker for the past three months. I will be using a co-sponsor, because my income is not sufficient. So should I put the total of my monthly earnings times 12 to project an estimated annual income? I was thinking that I could also ask the person that I do contract services for to write a letter stating when I started work with her and how much she has paid me.

If the consulate you are using allows a co-sponsor (most do) and you have one, you can relax a bit. To answer your question, yes, take your last three months income, divide by 3 and multiply by 12 to project annunal income. Show your check stubs or bank deposits for the last three months to support your claim. Yes, you can also present a letter and a copy of your contract if you would like. Why not?
