CR1 visas and K3 visas are taking just as long for the most part. With a CR1 you won't have to Adjust Status and you get your green card in the mail a few weeks after arrival. With a K3 you don't.

sometimes yes... many times about the same... sometimes no

sometimes the timeline differences are just a few months.... speed should not always be your only selection criteria...

the petition process is only a part of the whole equation... you need to learn what the current processing times are in your consulate for "K" visas then compare

Normally the K3 is a bit longer but WELL worth the wait. K3s Suck once you get to the US. Been there, done it! :bonk::bonk:

Even tho filing the I-129F is "free" you'll pay BIGTIME later. Plus it can muddy the waters. I wouldn't even file it. Do the CR-1 solo.

THANK YOU!!

Unless you're from Western Canada, K3 is unlikely to save any time at all anymore and it may actually extend your timeline. It will certainly cost you about $700 more by the time you get a green card.

Although our K3 is already at the Embassy, we are only going with the CR1. I expect it will only take a couple of weeks longer and as PUSHBRK noted, it will cost about $700 less. Plus, since Ivonne already has a US SSN, she can work in the US immediatly. We received our I-129F and I-130 approvals from CSC on the same day! Best wishes,

Question for PSHBRK & HAOLE,

Good Day.

1)

My husband filed for K3 at CSC and fortunately I-130 was approved in 28 days. He's been calling NVC everyday for a case number and got the same response, well yesterday it was not his day 'cause NVC live operator was not in good mood and he was told .............did u read the 797 approval notice? that will answer to all your question...so wait as per the notice..............(sigh).........hehehehe....bummer!...now we decided to wait for 90 days before calling NVC again and if we get our case number sooner, it would be a miracle. however its very frustrating though.

2)

Since K3 and CR1 almost the same time frame we will opt for CR1 this way we will save some BUCK$$$$ and less hassles when i get to the US.

PSHBRK & HAOLE............My 129F for K3 still pending at USCIS (Niguel, Laguna). We dont want to cancel it and would rather wait till it gets approve. how can we cancel the approved I-129F? do i have to write USEM in Manila or can my husband write a letter to NVC to cancel the approved I-129F and proceed CR1 instead?

We know it's too early to asked but its good to be prepared now rather than caugt off-guard. I dont want to post last minute question on in here and getting paranoid.

I need your inputs on this..........GOD BLESS!

Since your I-130 is already approved, the correct procedure would be to deny the I-129F, as one of the requirements is to have a pending I-130. Your I-130 is no longer pending. It was approved too fast for the I-129F to be received and joined with it. This is one of the main reasons, for advising against filing the I-129F for spouse at all.

Our I-130 and K3 were both approved on the same day, we are going to see how it goes with CR-1 at NVC and then will probably drop K3 if we get done before K3 interview date, we are hoping if we time it right NVC may complete our case and let us change the K3 interview date to a CR-1 interview as the K3 interview should be scheduled much sooner. I will be sending packet 3 back to Embassy this week for the K3.

Are you guys using Ling Ches NVC shortcuts?

If not do so.

No need cancel the I-129F. Wait till it's at USEM. Schedule the interview and wait and see how it goes with the CR-1. Some peeps get the K3 and go to the US and return and get the CR-1 later.

well hopefully the OP will "fly" through NVC as so many as us have done using LingChe NVC shortcuts and not need to go through another (CR1) interview...maybe they'll be able to switch the K-3 interview to a CR1 ...Ling himself did that.....
