Okay, here's an idea: Make "Health & Nutrition" required classes in school. I'm sure there would be plenty of kids who immediately forget whatever they learn once the class finished, but I'm equally sure some students would not only retain the information, but put it to good use.

Wasn't it President Regan who said that the ketchup packs that you are given in your lunch at school counted as a vegetable?

Yup, that was him.

Nice!

At least they gave you the ketchup though - in UK primary schools the kids used to get free milk in the middle of the day. Thatcher took it away.

Oh they don't GIVE us anything! We have to pay for our meals at school too. Although, I suppose they don't charge you based on how many ketchup packets you take. "I'm sorry, that's going to be .25 cents more because you have 3 vegetables on your plate"

Speaking of milk though, when my brother was in high school he got in-school detention (basically you have to sit in a room by yourself one whole day and do your work there) for "stealing" a carton of milk from the lunchroom. Everyday he paid to get lunch from the school but one day he didn't want lunch so he just went and got a carton of milk. But there was no system to only pay for a carton of milk, so if he had gone through the line he would have paid for the milk as if he was getting the whole meal! So he said "screw it" and took the milk without paying. I'm not saying he did the right thing...but really.
