MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Vermont has become the fourth state to legalize gay marriage — and the first to do so with a legislature's vote.

The Legislature voted Tuesday to override Gov. Jim Douglas' veto of a bill allowing gays and lesbians to marry. The vote was 23-5 to override in the state Senate and 100-49 to override in the House. Under Vermont law, two-thirds of each chamber had to vote for override.

When does the action start? :pop:

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

Yeah! #### the holy institution of marriage!

We're not talking about the holy institution of marriage. We're talking about the civil institution of marriage.

Also, the Governor vetoed it.

What would happen if Alabama approves of gay marriages? Does that mean a guy can marry his father or his brother?

The more states that allow gays to marry, make it more likely that the Republicans will nominate a strongly religious candidate in 2012. Religious candidates don't have much appeal outside of the party's religious base. So if this keeps happening, Republicans will loose badly in 2012.

Why would they nominate a strongly religious candidate in 2012 then? To lose?
