My fiance called the court house to get his papers on an old conviction he has (needs them, as well as police records, for the interview). the person he talked to didnt know what he was talking about. I told him to go down there in person n ask.

Does anyone know how to obtain them? and how long it could take?? will he get them that day?? thanks!!

I found this info on the britishexpats forum - he needs to request a Memorandum of Conviction (MoC)

The information is exactly as reported earlier in the post - apply for the MOC at the convicting court with as many details of the offense/offense that can be recalled. The fee around 40 UK Pounds is typical. Ask the court to stamp or emboss the document as the US authorities are keen on this 'authentication' - typical MOC's often look like a photocopy.

If the information cannot be found (usually because inaccurate details have been provided - the information never 'lapses'), then the Court will provide a letter to this effect.

If he supplies all the correct details, including the exact date of conviction, then they should be able to tell him if they can locate his records or not. If they can find them right away, he should be able to get it within a few days. It's nothing fancy; they just type up a letter with the details of the conviction on it.
