My fiance and I got engaged in an island called Nami Island about 1-2 hours away from Seoul. We met through a work related venue ~ and kepted in touch ever since. There are many times in our relationship that we would fly half way across the country to meet somewhere... since neither of us have our own place~ hotels have became our home for a while ~ Its really difficult & really stressful & extremely costly to continue a relationship 6000 miles away. We basically saw eachother every 2-3 month during the past year. I guess it was really time for us to make a decision whether we want this to work or not... so, here I am.... I have been so thankful of VJ. My fiance and I are considering of creating a blog in English and Korean so we are able to share our experience with all of new filers. Honestly, in the beginning I really didn't know whether I was capable to do this alone! with all of the friends on VJ, the journey has been smooth~ my fiance also joined a forum similar in Korean, and he said, they will have a study session over in an internet cafe in Seoul this sat... so, pretty interesting ! i guess that would only work for bigger metropolians.

As for now, fiance is still employed, he actually adores his job ~ as journalist ! but for me and for our future, he has to sacrafice. Not sure, if any of you know the condition in Korea... if you don't speak Korean its really difficult to blend in with the culture. Everything is extremely expensive in Seoul.... so the better choice was for us to start our life together in US.

Anyhow, we plan to get married in Korea, its much cheaper and affordable. Not to mention they take awesome wedding photos!

Again, so thankful for this site!

06/02/2011 - NOA receipt date

06/06/2011 - Check cashed

06/07/2011 - NOA arrived in the mail

06/15/2011 - Biometrics appointment letter arrived in the mail

07/11/2011 - Biometrics appointment

02/02/2012 - Phoned USCIS and put in a service request

02/08/2012 - Email from USCIS confirming my request

02/11/2012 - Letter from USCIS - says i should receive news within 30 days

03/14/2012 - Phoned USCIS again. 30 days has passed. no news. Took details again.

03/15/2012 -Received letter from USCIS - have to go to interview April 24th

04/24/2012 - Interview and ROC approved!!

05/07/2012 - Received email, card production ordered

05/11/2012 - Green card arrived

06/22/2012 - Mailed N-400 package to Phoenix/AZ Lockbox

06/26/2012 - NOA date

06/28/2012 - Check cashed

06/29/2012 - NOA arrived in the mail

07/02/2012 - Biometrics appointment letter arrived in mail

07/30/2012 - Received text +email. Application placed in line for interview

Interview Date: 11/08/09 (APPROVED!)

Visa in Hand: 11/12/09

POE: 01/30/10 (!!!!) at JFK Airport in NYC... can't wait!

Got the green card maybe 8 weeks after 01/30/10...

Beside your name it says you are applying for a K-1 visa...but you also say that you are getting married in Korea...these two things CANNOT go together.

If you get married in Korea you CANNOT GET A K-1 VISA! You can get a K-3 visa, CR-1 visa or (if and only if you as the USC live in Korea for at least 6 months) can apply DCF. Take a look at the guides to see your options, but if you want to get married in Korea, k-1 is NOT one of them.

Oh! one thing I should correct, we are not getting legally married in Korea. We are having a ceremony in Korea in 2010. We will get married legally here in california, but have a ceremony & reception in Korea. ^_^

Beside your name it says you are applying for a K-1 visa...but you also say that you are getting married in Korea...these two things CANNOT go together.

2009-07-07 : Interview Date

2009-07-10 : Visa Received

2009-07-30: US Entry

2009-08-13: Green card shipped

2009-09-01: Applied for SSN

2009-09-27: SSN Received

2009-12-12- Driver's Lic. Issued

2010-01-06- Hubby signed 3 year contract w/ military

Next Step: Coping with being alone for 5 months~

05-20-2009: called the Military Help Line and requested for expedite

06-04-2009: NOA2

06-14-2009: NVC letter received in the mail

07-02-2009: Packet 4 received

08-27-2009: Interview - Visa approved!

09-03-2009: visa in hands.

09-20-2009: POE - Miami

09-21-2009: we got married!
