Yes, this is normal.

If you do not have an interview by that date the consulate will automatically extend it.

Don't worry about it - It's normal.

If you are concerned that you are getting close to the expiration date and you still have no interview, you can always write to the embassy asking them to extend the date for peace of mind, but they tend to do it automatically.
