I like Curtis Stone, he's super charismatic. Are the recipes innovative and easy to follow?

My issue with cookbooks is that most either have recipes that are not really different or have recipes that are either too complicated or use too many ingredients that I don't have lying around the house or that I don't wanna buy for that recipe alone or that would push my grocery budget way above my comfort zone. :P

I think he only posts here when he gets paid for it. Damn selfish radical.

I just read through a few and they look easy to follow. Most of the time I just look at a photo and the ingredients and then make it however I feel like, ignoring all instructions in the actual cookbook. Some of the ingredients are herbs or things you may not normally have in the house, like, mascarpone or wild mushrooms, but most of them use pretty normal stuff. A lot of them are also his spin on simple dishes or things he remembers from growing up. Some recipes are like cinnamon toast w/caramelized peaches, paella, linguine with garlic shrimp and homemade pesto, gazpacho, grilled pineapple w/coconut and caramel sauce, proscuitto and portobello pizza. None of it is over the top stuff, but still good options. Not sure how much you're into cooking :P

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

I got my first driving lesson today

Your not in MA are you?

Nope I am not :P

It was YOU, trinket!! Get off the road

I nearly got clobbered about an hour ago. I'm in the restaurant parking lot, about to turn right into the main drag (Roosevelt Blvd.) I had one of those green turning signal arrows, clearly giving me the right of way. I was about to make the right turn when from the corner of my eye I see the guy coming along Roosevelt has no intention at stopping at his red light, he just went right through! It was last minute reflexes that kept me out of the intersection and a certain smashup. I hate a*holes like that.

Trinket ... you were nowhere near Roosevelt Blvd tonight were you??

I love cooking and watching Food Network and whatnot, I'm a bit of klutz though. Of course I don't get even close to a real chef, but there's a few dishes I make well and make it "witch style" (we like to call it that when we don't follow measurings, but just put stuff in by "eye"). Back home I used to be specially good at cakes (here my oven sucks and they never come out as fluffly as I'd like).

Btw, I mean regular cakes to eat with milk or coffee in the afternoon (very common in Brasil, we call them bolo), not sure how it goes here, pound cakes perhaps? Dunno. Like these.

Pictures above were "Anthill cake" (coconut and chocolate sprinkles to look like ants); carrot cake (in Brazil we use chocolate on top instead of the creamy frosting carrot cake takes here) and banana upside down cake.

The pastry chef style cakes (like for birthdays, etc) we even have a different name for them, torta (those I buy from my favorites stores, never tried making them).
