Although everyone else seems to like them, no matter how many times I try them they taste bitter to me. I've grown my own, I've bought them, and I've eaten other people's.

It says Bull's Blood on the packet and they are an heirloom variety.

it's a packaging error. Chioggia is the only beet that is striped like that. It's also an heirloom, and likely they just grabbed from the wrong bucket of seed. Bull's blood (which alphabetically is one off as well :) ) is a solid, deep red and so is it's foliage:

it can have red with darker red striping... but not white:

you can take your photo and contact the seed company and let them know their mistake-- they should either refund you, give you credit, or give you a real package of bull's blood. You won't be the only one they will be hearing from, and they will soon realize that they made a mistake. You also be sure to tell them the lot #, etc if you still have the package.

The other option is, if you have deep red tops and that white stripe that they had cross contamination with pollination.

The leaves are green but with red veins. I would except I quite like them and do not see the point in swapping, although perhaps I should, just as an information, in case someone else is really upset by it and having several people point out the error might make them more careful or something?

It's the Victory seed company too...I do have the original packet because I still have quite a few seeds. I was planning on planting successively.

Hang on, I'll take a pic of the leaves -

Leaves are green=straight chioggia. Veins will be red, yes. you won't need to swap seed at all-- they won't take it back. they will only rectify the situation. Seed problems are rare, but accidents happen. VS is a great company.

yep-- that's it :) It's again up to you to contact or not, but they shouldn't ask for their seed back-- they will usually just send a replacement or give a credit.

I'll send an email with the pics and give a head's up anyway, see what they say. Thanks Juliana, I would never have known, not having grown either variety before :D
