Working in U.S. with green card

I'm currently doing job interviews and hoping to have a job very soon... My green card is valid and everything is going smoothly...

Once I do sign on for a position, am I required to tell/show my employer that I have a green card if they don't ask? Just want to make sure I am doing everything by the book...

Thanks.

Upon being hired - an employer is responsible for completing the I-9 form (which documents a person's work authorization) this is for citizens and non-citizens alike. It is their responsibility.

That said, you should be wary of any employer who does not complete such documentation.

When they hire you they will check all your documents. Just show State DL, GC & SS#

& you are good to go.

GOOD LUCK !......

HERE IS MY TIMELINE :

I-130 received by USCIS 01/16/09

NOA1 Mail for I-130 received 01/22/09

I-485 Package mailed 02/17/09

I-485 Package received by USCIS 02/20/09

NOA1 Mail for I-485 & I-765 received 02/26/09

NOA2 e-mail for I-130 Approval 03/03/09 (47 Days)

NOA2 Hard Copy of I-130 Approval received 03/07/09

The employer is required to complete the I-9 form for all new employees. This means they need to see your authorization to work, eveyone's, not just immigrants. This may be after you are "hired" or just before or part of an orientation program. When the time comes, the Green Card is what to show them.

You can also show an unrestricted SSN and a driver license.

AOS Approved on 10-17-08 (details in profile)

Removal of Conditions on 07-19-10

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.
