had my medical in down town Toronto this morning

It was pretty painless :) tho I had to be up at 5am - to be down there for 7am

found parking one block away and behind the building (metered) 1.50/hr, and they don't start charging till 8am

I was the 4 or 5th inline

I waited till about 7:45, went out and put $3 in the meter

I walked back in just as my name was being called

first "station" I gave my passport/3 photo's/immunization records & of course my $$$

then directed to the Xray room - was told to make sure I breathed deeply as someone had to come back before because i guess they didn't breath deep enough

then I was told to go back to the waiting room

waited about 5 mins - called again to the 2nd "station"

had my 2 vials of blood taken

told to go back to the waiting room again

waited 5 mins, name called again

had my weight/height taken/blood pressure/heart rate

told to get undressed including undies tho I am still not sure why those needed to come off???

waited about 10 mins before doc showed up - went over my shots that I had - had a good chat about ireland

(she was going in 2 weeks) and I had told her I just got back

got a breast exam! lol, she looked in my eyes, ears throat, felt my ankles, writsts and neck - listened to me breathe

talked a bit more about ireland and Texas - etc

lol she was a talker - very nice to!

then DONE!

got there at 7:05 am, left at 9:15am

just over 2 hours - tho most of that was just waiting to get called the first time, once they started to process you it didn't take long at all!

I've read on the site that the medical is two days, is that true?

And well, it's good that it doesn't seem so pushy.

How did you prove you had your vaccines? I have this little yellow folding card that has the dates of my shots and checkmarks in the columns, but I'm unsure if this is enough.

Thank you for the review though, it eased my mind about the medical.

medical is one day - never heard of 2 days? tho if you want to pick up your results it takes 2 days - I just paid the 50 for courier fee because I didn't want to drive back down to Front street

Yellow folding card is all I took - it's fine :)

What shots are listed on your yellow card??? Did you get the Gardasil shots? Did they say you were missing any shots??

Well, I know the yellow card only lists the shots you get as a kid:

~ Pertussis, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio, Oral Polio, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and the TB skin test. Plus an area for writing in other shots.

That's what mine shows anyway.

My HepB shot is on a cut out piece of paper from school.

Though, I'm not looking foward to the Gardasil shots. I condone them :/

what if you no longer have your yellow card... do you just ask your doctor for a list of shots you have had? Or do you have to contact someone else?

You can contact your local health unit (I contacted the Peel Region one cause I live in Mississauga) and they mailed me my immunization records. They have them on file from when you go to school.

Oh I lived in Mississauga too... I know I had a few shots before I went to University in the US will they have those on record too? Did this cost money? Is that what you brought to your medical exam?

it was free, I just googled Peel Region Health Unit and emailed them. They needed to know what elementary school I went to I believe. They only had the shots I had when before I went to school and the ones I had while in elementary school... nothing afterwards (which was just 1 booster shot). They only record the ones after you're finished public school if you record them with them yourself.

I brought this sheet and my yellow booklets and the Dr. used both because my yellow booklets were actually a bit incomplete so the sheet had some of the missing shots from the yellow booklet.
