I was seperated in 2005, I met my fiance in 2006 but my ex wife and I didnt finalize the dissolution until 2007 because of student loan and being married red tape, it would've destroy her college chances. I was just being nice because it was a peaceful break up. Any suggestions what to put in my evolution letter and what my fiance should tell the VO?

Guangzhou tends to look for the smallest excuse to deny a K-1 on the grounds of "Bonafide Relationship" you best resource is to Join A Candle for Love and study, and front-load the petition before you file it.

PRACTICE TIP #1 - What the words generally unavailable to DHS at the time of petition approval should mean to skilled immigration practitioners, is that they should inform DHS in advance, at the time of filing the petition, of any potential red flags a consular officer might spot in the case. If DHS approves the petition anyway, a consulate is not supposed to deny a petition for that same reason.

What are some typical red flags that can cause a Consular Officer to suspect the merits of a relationship? MORE.....

Why did you use the double quotation?

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

That explains it. I thought you were suggesting to fudge the truth.

Interesting to read that the consulate feels they are "protecting" Americans from fraudulent relationships. This is true, in many cases, when the interaction is viewed in a western light. When the same relationship is viewed from a Chinese perspective, an entirely different conclusion may be drawn. Many Chinese marry for position, whether it be social or financial gain.

This is not viewed as fraud in China. It is considered perfectly reasonable. Any western guy marrying a Chinese woman he has not actually lived with for at least a year should consider this cultural difference. Those of us who lived with our Chinese wives before marriage could not help but notice that position is more important to a Chinese woman than it is to an American woman.

We chose to marry them, anyway, for our own reasons.

That's better than fudge  Did you see the main (1st) reason? No English, No Visa.. I live in Los Angeles, and probably half the people can't speak English, and the other half can't even pass the Writing Proficiency Exam in colleges.. I "trained" my wife for two years now - we go over schoolwork online and I assign stories, movies for her to watch and we go over every night if she has questions.. She probably has better English skills than a lot of people here.. haha, and I'll protect her too.. I got a 1470/1600 out of the SATs a few years ago, so I know me English very well.. haha.. :star:

You know, I had some divorce issues myself, and I was assured that it was going to cause trouble for my case. In the end, it did not. I think it can be a very negative factor IF there are any other iffy things (perceived or real) about your case. I also believe it does a lot of good to front-load your original petition, as Dan mentioned.
