Polish Migrant Workers Leave Britain in Droves

By Claudia Blume

London

31 March 2009

When Poland and a number of other Eastern European countries joined the European Union in 2004, Britain experienced one of the largest single waves of immigration the country has ever seen. More than one million Eastern Europeans - most of them Polish - came here to profit from Britain's booming economy. While the 'Polish plumber' has become something of a symbol for the new immigrants, Polish workers play an important part in all areas of the British economy, particularly in the construction, hospitality and catering sectors. Now, as a recession looms over Britain, Polish workers are leaving the country. Claudia Blume reports from London. ...........

I remember the influx, the government said that they predicted only 100,000 new immigrants in the first year , ended up like 1,000,000. Do you think France or Germany had that any new Polish Immigrants? No. For some reason they all came to the UK for our cushy benfits/welfare.

Not many countries can deal with that many new workers.

I work in the US Gulf of Mexico offshore oil industry. We get a lot of Brits and Scots out to our facilities to do specialized downhole proceedures in our wells. I talk to these guys often and it was quite common for them to b*tch about all the Pollocks invaiding Great Britain. They were not happy about the situation.

Go figure?

Floods of foreigners from low wage venues flooding the labor market, driving down wages, and then taking the wages out of the local economy by sending a big chunk money home in massive sums as remittances.

Sound familiar?

At least the Pollocks are legal and somewhat vetted through the system. Not much of a consolation, but it is a step up from the insanity of the US open border policy of unlimited illegal immigration of unknown people whom we know nothing about. The jails in Houston are full of them.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Yes, but didn't you get the memo that the new purpose of immigration policy is to give everybody else "a better life" vs the national interest as it used to be?

Immigration has now become a new charity event and attonement for self inflicted guilt. Give till it hurts.....literally.

I tell you what, they can have the UK. All the brits will leave ti find pastures new and we end up with a big game of musical chairs. I just hope we don't get stuck in [make your own gag] when the music stops.

What is the story? I don't get it, there was work, people came to do the work, now there isn't, people have to move around again to find it where they can. Nothing illegal, no problem and I don't see anyone complaining.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

They found it, it must have been available. It's work that some people do not feel is worthy of them, so they don't do it. It's not the Polish who are the skivers.

Of course - immigrants only come to the UK/US to live off welfare benefits because they are too stupid or lazy to work.

Puhlease
