Police Certificate in India

Does anyone knows if Police Certificate & Character Certificate are same in India? I got the Character Certificate from India, but the NVC doesn't see that document and they have to review again....

Can anyone help me out with this? How can I get the Police Certificate from India Police Department?

Regarding your policae certificate from India.....................if you are in India, then you need to visit your local police station and submit your request for a police clearance certificate for US immigration purpose.U need to pay some amount towards the fees. Who gave you this Character certificate ?

However, if you are residing in the USA,then you go to the nearest Indian Embassy ( depends on the state ur residing) and submit your application for Police clearance certificate.

The embassy will mail you the certificate with in 7-8 working days.U need to submit your original passport, the copy of the CIC letter,photos and some$ s as fees.

"Police Records

Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:

All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office. These are usually more dependable than those obtained at a local level and indicate that the subject had no serious criminal convictions on record at the time of passport issuance.

Applicants whose Indian passport was issued within the past six months may present just the Passport Office Police Certificate, and need not obtain additional police clearances.

Applicants over age 16, whose passports were issued more than six months previous to visa application, must also obtain a police clearance from the District Police Office serving the applicant's place of residence.

Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record. "

U have to go to the Police Superintendent´s office and give an application along with

1. 2 passport photos

2. conduct certificate for the past 3 years with photo attested by a gazetted officer

3. attested copy of passport

4. copy of the agreement between u and the consultancy

the application should be made on a white paper with a 10RS court fee stamp affixed

Agreed with the post above. My wife went to her local police station, filled out her form, and got the certificate in about 1 week. If the beneficiary lives in India, what state does the beneficiary reside in?

I got my PCC from police in two days and from Passport office in few Hours.

I went to SP office and applied there and paid 300Rs. I picked the form and come back to my Local police station and than they made a report for me and three people did there signature on the from.

1st clerk or the one who writes FIR's

2nd my local area ASI

3rd SHO of local police station

than i came back to SP office again and submit my report over there and than they gave me a PCC and told me to wait for SP's signature on it.

I got his signature and the PCC was in my hands.

If yo leave everything up to them than they will take their own time. It can be one week or may be 1 month.

where do u think the SP office is?

read my post carefully I got it from Sp office which is district police office. I just mention the whole process to go faster your own.
