In the employment section on G325A, if someone started work 3 years ago and were a student before that, do I include school information to cover all of the past 5 years' history?

Put in the "student" info as if it was a job.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

No you were "Unemployed". That's what you mark down and include the date ranges. Leave no date ranges missing.

They are looking for Employment history. You either are employed or you are not. No harm in being unemployed.

Actually, the G325a is biographical. Either indicating "unemployed" or "student" are acceptable.

You are correct about the biographical but the section is titled Employement History; to me that is very clear.

Yes, it IS clear. It's also ok to do it either way. Trust me on this. Been there and done that numerous times. This can be particularly beneficial in places where women in their early twenties or older with no employment history come under additional scrutiny, but you can do it that way for any reason you want.
